After her controversial debut MW "Daughter of the Dragon" is "Blood Avatar" is the second novel by Ilsa Bick, who plays in the MW universe. And more than this background we must not expect, because it is none of the things against which one would normally expect: no 'Mechs, no spaceships, no fighting, no military at all! Blood Avatar is a crime in MW scenario, playing on a remote planet. So to speak, the "X-Files" version of MW. Because on said planet go a number of very strange things going on that ultimately suggest some answers and pose more questions: what's the deal with the Republic and the collapse of the HPG network really all about? Who is pulling the strings behind the scenes? And the Word of Blake was actually completely wiped out in the Jihad ..? In the beginning you have to overcome something to read on, because all the usual MW ingredients missing. There is to read some brutalities that one would not expect in the form. However Ilsa Bick is a high-class author who manages to draw interesting characters and to capture the reader. After I got over my initial anger, I continued to read without a break - to 4 clock early!
