this is my first review - so please excuse if I should have forgotten something.
Canon promises effortless plug and play and therefore not too much. I have tested the scanner directly to a MacBook Air and iMac. Thanks to the built-in software on the device, can be scanned directly. But beware !:
The full range of functions, including particularly the cloud scanning (in my case: Evernote) belongs, is available only if the full software is installed from the CD. The install is however very quickly and you can assign the Scan button, among others. In my case, I just close the scanner via USB on, press the button, the software in MacOS opens automatically and the scan is automatically scanned at Evernote. A full scan is therefore less than 1 minute !!! feasible. Just awesome.
The scanner supports USB 3.0. This now I could not test. In the manual is emphasized that the fastest can be scanned with this, otherwise you would have to connect two USB 2.0. Compared to a single cable, I see three different scenarios no difference. If anyone noticed a difference, I am pleased with a brief comment. I believe it is possible that USB 3.0. a pure marketing ploy, whereby the difference to its predecessor, significantly lower.
Overall, really 5 star, but I do not want this award before I do not have the equipment for a few months. Currently I archive my paper from my studies. This includes 14 full ring binders. When I'm done, I'll give a short notice if the scanner has survived it.
UPDATE: 26/11/2012 - By now the reader has already a few pages behind him - among others, the 14 file folders - and the catchment works to my astonishment still perfectly. Apparently, Canon has not saved here at the rubber rollers. On my Mac I have not had any errors in the detection. However, I recommend to the full extent of downloading the software from the manufacturer to use the full functionality can (The Link was unfortunately very cumbersome to find -.-). Otherwise, I would like to take this opportunity to upgrade to 5 star. Weaknesses that I can be criticized in other reviews some not judge, because I have no direct comparison possible unfortunately. However, I feel that the equipment is partly regarded as complete all-around device. Personally, I did not expect that to me this portable device spits out a super clean color scan, as its big brothers. On this point there is certainly for those on a budget better quality. However, can not take you this ;-)
