With Amazon ordered late Thursday evening came the package already on the following Saturday-noon. There's nothing faster! And I'm not a prime customer. After unpacking, I have the same system connected and put into operation. That was intuitively, even without previous studying the manual. I then consulted later to store radio stations. Unfortunately, that was not quite as intuitive.
Caveat: All the positive reviews I can understand - the system is visually and sonically a treat!
In many reviews of loud fans was criticized. With my system you can hear nothing of it. Using a flashlight, I then looked up: probably the only manufacturer and no more fans now has learned from reviews built (or even more savings?). Through the opening in the back of the complex you can freely look at the electronic board.
I, in turn, tested a variety of purchased and self-recorded CDs as an audio CD and MP3-CD: all could be read easily and noise from the CD drive. The USB flash drives previously used were also easily recognized and rendered.
The radio reception is with the included wire antenna while not overwhelming but sufficient. Here I noticed that the upward scan takes more radio stations than the downward scan. Said everything is relative matter, because I mostly listen to only 2 different transmitters and can be RECEIVED in excellent quality stereo.
The sound of the speakers is very good. A less positive assessment describes "as much bass you'll ever need!". So much bass, it is not. Only in a frequency range it roars a bit too strong and unfortunately there come the highs a little too short. Since I'm not quite sure which equalizer setting suits me the most sound. All in all, the speakers produce but a much "bigger" sound, as can be trusted to relative (there are plants with much smaller LB) boxes.
However, a joke, the thin Kabelchen that protrude out of the speakers. I dare to say that here was saved by the manufacturer at the wrong end. A little more cable cross-section would ensure the sound does not harm! I had already extend one of the 1.5 m rather short cable, because the system is not centered between the boxes for me, but to the side. In addition I have then taken speaker cable from the accessories trade with 1.5 mm² cross-section to produce no further output losses. Maybe I'll replace after the warranty period, the original cable by thicker speaker cable. Positive is here, however, that no special LG speaker connectors, but simple terminals used. This makes the use of extension cords easily.
An important feature for me is the timer and the sleep function. In the bedroom, the LG FA162 is to replace the clock radio.
I find the remote control clearly in size. The remote controls of some TV, or universal remotes are often overloaded with buttons such that you have to study their operation long enough to deal with it. When LG FA162 which is not the case. It is very good that the title can be selected directly using the numeric keys of both CDs and from a USB stick. That's not all manufacturers that way. However, the labels are then but a little on the tiny keys. However, this only applies to users whose arms (like mine) are getting shorter ... ;-)
The handling of the volume control on the touch screen is a bit unusual. The non-operation of other functions via the display but. I'll settle me ... ... or use the remote control!
Since I like to listen to audio books (both from CD and from USB flash drive), I find it positive that the system remembers the last played position as long as the same CD is inserted, or the same USB flash drive is plugged in.
One question remains open: Why this model and not the "bigger" model LG FA168? Sonically and in terms of performance, the two plants will be nothing. However, the FA168 has Bluetooth and recording function via USB. Bluetooth I do not need, because I belong to a generation that does not have to constantly look at your smartphone's because I have none. The times that I have recorded radio broadcasts, are gone since my youth days. At that time it took still on compact cassettes. If I want to grab CDs to a USB stick, I do it on the PC.
Overall, the LG FA162 completely fit for me! And so I forgive despite small weaknesses 5 Stars. A strong buy recommendation!
