The integrated battery allows really to use it for a long time without any need to recharge.
It scans in JPG or PDF (only one button to press to switch from one to the other), in 300/600 or 1050dpi (far more than required for an extra scanner).
The time for each scan is saved, which can be very convenient for storage posteriori.
The automatic shutdown is planned so as not to let the battery run down if we forgot to turn it off.
Some tips:
1 / obtained good results when scanning a book by tilting the scanner to rest on one corner. There is thus a space of one-half centimeter between the paper and the scan area.
2 / It's better to scan from top to bottom, bringing the scanner toward you.
3 / On the side of the scanner there are two relatively small discrete white arrows that tell you scan area (I did not see them right away)
4 / Remember to set the time (accessible menu with the button that represents a toothed wheel) so that your scans are saved with the right date and the right time
5 / Remember that comes without memory card. When you buy one, no need to take an expensive. The writing speed has almost no impact here. A class4 than enough (I bought a 8gb for 3rd)
