Minstrel in the Gallery (CD)

Customer Review

After publishing the monumental THICK AS A BRICK 1972, Ian Anderson, who exacerbated through a whirlwind of creativity, compose another album unique piece (A PASSION PLAY, beautiful but nebulous), then a third that he will give up along the way ( THE CASTLE ISASTER TAPES, available on the Nightcap 1993), having first kept ideas for the album which will see the return to the simple collection of songs unconnected (WAR CHILD, very uneven). But this is on the following that he will find all his genius.
MINSTREL IN THE GALLERY is perhaps the disk where Jethro Tull shines the most. Thanks to the most intimate and lyrical songs ever written by Ian Anderson (ONE WHITE DUCK, REQUIEM), the group explodes with all its technical and musical splendor. Starting songs by acoustic themes shaped tales dAnderson, Jethro Tull takes us where we never lattend (the piece MINSTREL IN THE GALLERY is a grandiose piece climb), swirling the words of his singer between winds and tornadoes (hallucinating Barriemore Barlow COLD WIND TO VALHALLA), the album and transforming each piece into a finely crafted work to dorfèvres arrangements (BLACK SATIN DANCER). So no, this is not the Ramones! But the history of rock sest laccouplement also built on the strength and beauty.
