So far, a WHS V1 runs without problems. But a thorn was my relative umstandliche backup to an external drive. After I was not able to configure a NAS (Buffalo) with RAID1 and automatic backup of the WHS, I came looking for a reasonable priced solutions on the Micro Server. WHS 2011, I had anyway already prepared for the planned server move, but another PC there was being considered as a server. The MicroServer with integrated Raid1 seemed a sensible alternative. The OS should be based on the standard 250 plate 2x2TB the Server Folders and user data should accommodate as mirroring in RAID1. That proved to be a bit tricky, because the instructions assume that the RAID BIOS of the MicroServer is used. There I had behaved configured everything as far as no problem. Alone WHS2011 treated the two plates then as Raid0, which was not the intention. Longer Searches the web let me then run into the solution: In the Micro Server BIOS The Raid must remain turned off and everything be left WHS2011 - it funzt (in the Disk Management mirroring for the two data plates on, that's it ...) , Was unfortunately a complete reinstall necessary, but now läufts. Meanwhile, I have a 4 disk as a backup for the OS in it - which automatically runs the Nachtens. Now even now and still a manual backup on an external disk and it would have to forward the sky fall on my head ...
The hardware is good, pleasantly built the MicroServer small and thoughtful.
Toll: All screws for hard drives (. So 16Stk) and the optional optical drive is in the "door" exist - I first noticed at all. The right key there also.
On the components it is easier to get - the removal of the cable is a little fiddly, but the motherboard then you have to get out completely.
WHS2011 is fully supported - all drivers are and as I said, also Raid!
Volume: Not necessarily what the desk - for the fan is a bit pushy.
Too bad: No USB. 3
Conclusion: A comprehensive server solution with integrated RAID for a small price and all the advantages of a WHS system for a small price.
