Picture Quality: Very natural colors. Focus is still good, it's a star deduction. Visually, one has the impression that the focus would be relatively evenly distributed and not particularly dependent on the focal length. Distortions are limited. Aberrations I can not really perceive. Vignette is perceptible at any focal position. The richness of detail irritates my 10MP camera almost, I mean. He is, as the focus also much higher than the standard zoom 18-55. Overall, the image impression is absolutely great and much better than in my previous message, a somewhat aged bestselling Sigma 55-200 4-5.6.
Processing: Excellent, though everything is made of plastic. It wobbles, creaks and crackles nothing, the zoom ring is just smooth. That could change with advancing age, however, so that it can be operated with one finger. Noise kept within narrow limits. Labels were applied very clean, the switch and the adjusting rings are very handy (focus with rubber coating). All columns and joints are made with minimal tolerances.
Facilities: The current Sony DSLR, this lens fits perfectly natural. The often Sony-typical 55er filter thread adapter saves Filterkauf- or orgies. The focal length from 55mm closes perfectly to the default zoom. The sun visor is practical and can be screwed fast, even upside down for easy storage.
Focus: precise, extremely fast but quiet.
Weight and Size: Very low, but the exterior is also correspondingly sensitive because of the plastic material.
Conclusion: More telephoto lens for the money's not for Sony cameras. How large production variances are, of course, I can not say, but the processing lets hope good.
