The glass was purchased by me as all-round and astronomy binoculars.
Disadvantages:
It is true, these are the eyecups very uncomfortable and not cling ergonomically. Also the field of view is considerably restricted when unfolded eyecups. Furthermore, do not exclude the edges from the right and light can occur in the dark. The viewing experience is compromised. Inexcusable for this high price.
However, there is an alternative, which I found after a long search. The "Baader rubber eyecups III" fit like a glove in the Canon eyecups in and keep them there also. Costs per piece 12 and are highly recommended and very enjoyable. Although the field of view restriction is still present, but the review is much more fun. Without this "Baader rubber eyecups III" I would have most likely returned the binoculars.
The absence of the lower lens cap is angry. Alternatively fit the Canon E-58 U lens cap.
When turned on stabilization and use vertically into the sky for stargazing the stars are sometimes minimal focus. This is very likely due to the stabilization. Because on a tripod that does not happen.
Positives:
What a difference! With and without switched stabilization. Alone therefore well worth a purchase. The picture is formally. Many more details are visible at great distance. Besides the outstanding optical performance stabilizing your money's worth. Anyone who has ever tried the Canon, will want to buy any other binoculars in a similar magnification for more stabilization. Except maybe a Zeiss 20x60. But that is priced no alternative.
The optical performance of the Canon 15x50 IS is impressive. Crisp images during the day, color-accurate needle-shaped stars at night. What more do you want.
Conclusion:
I would buy the glass at any time. Although the eyecups "crap" and the lower lens cap missing. The optical performance in combination with the stabilization and the purchase price in my opinion are unmatched, making this one of the best Canon stabilized binoculars in the world.
