I use the Jawbone UP for several weeks and wanted here's talk about my personal long-term experience. I bought the tracker due to the many positive reviews on the internet. As great as I thought at first, the Tracker is not. Ultimately, it would have done a normal pedometer. But even from the beginning:

The tracker is available in different colors. If you do not opt ​​for a set that belongs only to the clip holder, but no bracelet supplied. That there is but reorder separately in numerous colors. The Tracker is supplied with the appropriate button cell in a fairly small package. There is no manual.

First, the app is installed. It's a breeze. Learn how the equipment is operated, can be accessed online. The operation is easy, the app is very simple and mostly clear.

Tracker and smartphone connected via Bluetooth and updated. If the two units separately, the data in the app are simply updated when you are connected again. At night, for example, I have my Bluetooth always disabled. In the morning I turn my Bluetooth on again and the data update themselves. This fits so and is prima solved.

I wear the Tracker mostly on waistband or belt. The steps appear to be properly counted. It works even if the tracker is clamped on stocking, or in the middle of BH. However, he only begins from approximately 20 steps, counting.

The bracelet is a full disaster and I can only advise against it. It's just very awkward to get the tracker as in and out. In addition, the bracelet too much falls on when you wear it. At night it is recommended, but I think the change from clip in the bracelet too costly and time consuming. I'm not sure every morning and evening. In addition, the bracelet suggests hardly alone and you really need help to do so. Poorly made.

During the day, the steps are numbered. At night, the sleep phases. That was also a reason to buy. I wanted to know if I sleep badly, when and how deeply I slumber. The first time I found the analysis very interesting. In addition to the light sleep and the healthy sleep is displayed. The Oberhammer is that the proper deep sleep phases are simply not visible, because they just simply do not have the app or it is simply not provided the model UP !!!

The free app is unfortunately held too plain. Sleep phases are displayed in bar. If you drive over the bar, only the time of changing sleep phase is betrayed. Then, the user mental arithmetic may, if he wants to know how long stopped a certain phase. My God, that could have been done better. Exactly the same, it is also in the steps. It says the time and above a bar with, for example 120 steps. Then comes again sometime a balcony with my account number 596 steps (because he mitrechnet of the previous bar). The difference is how much steps was now active, the user must calculate itself.

The average evaluations are shown as stupid. Weekly or monthly. Only at the end of a week or a month is a number. Otherwise only bar in any amount which is nothing more than betray a tendency. I find this annoying.

From time to time, the app useful tips that have taken but in recent times arg. At the beginning stood there still such a thing as drink 8 glasses of water. In the app you could see the glasses if you drank it, specify. Then the app asked me: The last days you ran an average of 6,000 steps. Tests tomorrow to walk 7,000 steps, click here if you want to join the Challenge. If you really run 7,000 steps, it was praised. Those were true motivations. Meanwhile, those messages do not come more or rare. Instead came a report, how healthy it is to move yesterday. The report could be completely read through a link. When I was redirected to the page I landed on an English-language site with an English-language report ... Total unnecessarily.

I was asked at the beginning to enter my weight. This then has never asked again the app.

The food input I do not use. Far too complicated and expensive, as one can expect this several times a day users.

A stop watch is integrated. After I drove 1.5 hours intensive liner, a much too low calories burned number was displayed. Even with the steps that UP was totally overwhelmed. Therefore less suited for in-line driving. If you forget to turn off the timer, is simply further analyzed. A subsequent correction of hours is not possible, or it will delete its sports activity simply completely.

You have to remember to keep the button on the UP long to switch to the day or sleep mode. I think that's a good solution. However, if you switch to night mode, and after that reading a book, so is quiet, then this is indicated on the next morning as a light sleep. A false statement. Sometimes I lie awake 30 minutes, then tomorrow is in the app, I had fallen asleep after 0 minutes. Another false statement. If I'm awake at night, but do not get up, which is mediated as a light sleep. Therefore, I do not trust the whole thing not quite. However, because the unit is very well: When one is awake at night and goes to the toilet, then he gives this as wakefulness and even counts the steps with ...

Initially, the motivation was to move more high. After a short time the UP is then unspectacular. Night stages are all similar (who can say whether this is true ?!), the steps of working days remain largely stable. The info you then, but since it would have a normal cheaper pedometer done.

I lack a way to connect the tracker to the computer in order to create further analysis or lists. Example: CSV Export to Excel or similar ...

The Jawbone UP I had worn easily in air travel, because there are no problems at check-in. Was also to analyze really funny, how long you are so daily on holiday in Mallorca on the road and if you sleep better on vacation.

Well, I would not buy the UP. I am also too bulky and conspicuous to wear it on your arm. On the pants it wears well and also seems to properly count the steps. Overall, I have received a knowledge gain. The one with the sleep stages is quite interesting, but too superficially. Where are the deep sleep phases? Where are the tips and motivations remained that there were so numerous at the beginning?

Finally, I would like to get rid of what very annoying: I ordered the yellow Jawbone UP. It is not a bright yellow, but rather color ocher. After only 2 weeks, the color looked the clip so absolutely filthy and worn out. As you would have been 10 years in use. Too bad.

Changing the battery, I had not yet.
