Much better than I thought! (Skiller Skiller & Pro)

Sharkoon Skiller gaming keyboard black (Accessories)

Customer Review

- UPDATE 10/2014! - Amazon unfortunately does not distinguish between still and Skiller Skiller Pro. However, the difference is enormous. I now own both. The review for the Skiller Pro I have pasted below, because fortunately it remains at the 5 stars, and for the Pro version.

- UPDATE 04/2014! -
Meanwhile, 900 reviews and it pretty much bad! Some of these cater to my review and say one should not be deceived them. It has been criticized, among others, "ghosting" and the spacebar. For this purpose the following statement:

I still play with the keyboard! - Games like BF, Batman, as well as Skyrim, Gothic etc. - I noticed nothing that bothers me, neither at the spacebar, nor to any key combination that I would have to press (but vllt there are games where this keyboard until today then is not suitable). I can therefore continue to make a recommendation and would like again to stress that comparisons with 60-up keyboards are inappropriate. Comparisons should be drawn to the 15 gray standard gizmos!

-----------------------

Background:
I wanted, when I saw this keyboard from Amazon, strike directly:
Just something I was looking for. A gamers keyboard that looks good but is not so expensive. My old G11 had unfortunately given up the ghost and I was not ready again to spend so much money on a keyboard, which is merely comes to typing. An everyday would gamble for rich, macro functions I never use anyway.
But in addition to my beautiful illuminated mouse I wanted simply no ugly standard keyboard ...... But instead of 10 then 40 or 60 to spend, just to make it look cool? This was too much to me.

I am informed and was afraid that this keyboard is the last scrap heap for the price here. On computerbase.de I found also a detailed test of really deterred me. In conclusion it was said: "You would say even for this low price no recommendation!"
...... "That can not be," I thought, because I can return at any time on Amazon, I bought anyway. And I come to the following conclusion:

----------------------

Now in retrospect, since I have the keyboard in front of me, I am of the opinion that the gentlemen at H probably have to have pretty high standards or have no idea what price / performance means.
It is incomprehensible to me how you can say that you can not pronounce itself buy recommendation for the price.

I mean we are talking about 17 and not 40 (which is just the minimum configuration with Microsoft or Logitech gets for 40). I then ask myself what for here the processing was measured. For 10 you can buy from virtually any manufacturer a standard keyboard, without frills. Without multimedia keys and without good looks.

So now you since getting here for 7 more a keyboard has to offer a really nice gimmick with the rubberized buttons, which looks good, the numerous multimedia keys offer and, for the wants, even "pseudo-macro" (pseudo, it no extra macro keys are, but the F1-F12 keys are used for).

- The processing is at least as good as those of the 10 keyboard, but of course a bit worse than an expensive. It acts jeodch bililg under any circumstances.
There are really only 2 features that stand out to me where I'd say: "Ok, the looks cheap.". Namely, once the multimedia keys but then something rickety, and then identifies the key. This is very thin and if you look closely it seems stuck and out of focus.
Personally, I am, however, agree with this shortcoming, when I think that I have it saved a lot of money and really only use keyboard for typing and WASD taxes.
Otherwise it was indeed criticized by H of piano lacquer. Now I can only agree that it is very dirt-prone. But it also looks pretty cool and lets the keyboard appear high. I therefore recommend a good feather duster. Who wants that the keyboard is visually beautiful, but must take care of it.

- The rubber buttons are really, as already mentioned, a nice gimmick, and I believe that I will not use it often, because it annoys you to have to change constantly. Why I Change permanently? Now those like me who dominated the 10-finger typing, which is used to set the left index finger on the marked with a line F and the right to also marked with a line J. Due to the different surface of A, S and D keys but it automatically creates the left fingers while writing a letter to the left, because it simply "feels right". It feels really weird to have rubberized on three fingers and put the fourth on the normal surface of the F's. So I'm constantly switch on.
But as I said ....'s just a nice gimmick.

- The pressure point of the keys is in my opinion reasonable. The my old keyboard was slightly better, no question, but really just a little. There is no comparison to a 10-standard keyboard. For 7 more you really get a much more pleasant and crisp pressure point, which should come to meet gamers.

- The multimedia keys work. Super. Especially the calculator or the media button (iTunes) I often use.

- To look I do not have to say much. The keyboard looks just like the pictures. I think she has style and looks good.

- The delivery was really bad. The Tastaur arrived here in their original box, without it had been stowed away in a box. This packaging was broken. The corners were torn. It looked as if I would have bought a used keyboard. Innendrin everything was indeed fine, but very spartan. The keyboard was easy in a plastic sheet with CD. Done. No Styrofoam, manual or otherwise.

-----------------

Conclusion:
I can issue a strong buy recommendation. Who also 60 for a gamer keyboard are too much and shortly before that was easy to play with a normal standard keyboard for 10 is hereby advise best. Because the Skiller costs only 7 more has, but to offer a lot more and really looks great. The build quality is much better than imagined, the tactile feedback is good and it has the functions of a gamer keyboard. Only the labeling of the keys is not as good, but that would be at a 10 keyboard also not better.

PS I once each uploaded a picture from the top and bottom of the keyboard. Just at the bottom you can see that it is verabeitungstechnisch much better than a 10-standard keyboard and almost as good as an expensive.

- - - SKILLER PRO - -

My old Skiller was so slow getting old ... I have to admit, the Spacebar has strayed some punches in frustrated hours of play. So it was time for something new.
So what, that I came for a chance in my search for a new keyboard to the Skiller Pro, which should appear in 2 weeks. So I ordered.

+ Significant progress in processing
+ Good lighting that can be dimmed
+ High-quality multi-media keys
+ Chic look
- For texts write unsuitable as stiff!

Caution :
Who in the Skiller Pro problems with the spacebar (namely that it only when it is pressed all the way down triggers), which should necessarily claim compensation! Also I have now the 2nd keyboard,
but which works perfectly. That with the spacebar so is not a problem of the keyboard, but there are probably "mon models".

Pressure point:

The pressure point of the keys is very crisp (unlike the old Skiller). The Skiller Pro positions itself clearly in the camp of the gamers, because while writing texts it is weakening. This depends on the following:
By pressing the buttons in the center, so they are very crisp and comfortable to press, as it is always the case when playing with WASD and spacebar.
But it is now applied the 10-finger writing technology, then it can happen that you often rather laterally presses the buttons, especially those who are outside.
Then, however, the keys are unfortunately sluggish and "tilt" is. Thus it depends on the feeling that you have to get used a fairly strong attack, so you do not get stuck on one or the other button. Light and shade so. When gaming I'm excited and think to myself "Wow, crisp, high-pressure point", when writing it feels it was rather cheap in front. However, the space bar is anything but vague, as it was still criticized by the old Skiller by many.

Features:

The keyboard comes with a driver and ... rubber swabs !! :) For Aufstellkappen back. Which I find really great. A small detail but unspeakably useful. The keyboard slides thereby also at
heavy pressure thank difficult over the table, the rubber things. The driver is primarily there to program the macro buttons and doing what he should. The illumination of the keypad is sufficiently bright. They can be dimmed, it is a flash in 12 stages.

Processing and design:

Finally we come to the second significant advance over the Skiller (old version). At the processing a lot has happened. The cheap lacquer look and rickety
Multimedia keys are history. The new interface looks very high quality and feels great too. Especially the multimedia keys are located nice and stable and have a good pressure point. It was this time restricted to the most important. Clear big plus here.

Conclusion:
Compared to my old Skiller I pay 10 more here. Like in my old review I would expressly point out here that I rate the keyboard in view of their price.
For 25 I can not use the standards of a 100 keyboard. This is considered by many journals Although handled (eg GameStar or chip, where a distinction is made between price / performance and pure power), which I find here on Amazon, but not attached, because it comes to purchasing decisions here.
Because of this, I conclude the Skiller due to the excellent price / performance Verhältnises to give 5 stars. The processing and the fact that it is illuminated, is for
25 really top notch.

Still, I can not put any fond this keyboard. I use for my studies and therefore quasi lapotp never write long texts on the keyboard. It is anything but an all-rounder, but
suitable only for gaming. If you want to write in order for work or for study long texts, which I actually rate the Skiller Pro from, because it "clamps" the keys to the very 10-finger writing. With this in mind I would have if I'd hide the price, if only 4 stars.
