much better than the old one

I had read the Lide20 and have this only need to replace it, because I have on one of my computers now Windows7 / 64bit. I share here a previous reviewer to: The exchange was not necessary, new purchase just because Canon would not provide drivers for Windows7. Unfortunately I have no viable alternative with the same features and similar price found. So I had to unfortunately again buy a Canon, though, I wanted to actually not do because of the scandal with the drivers.

Still, I'm on the other hand is not dissatisfied with the initial purchase, because the Lide 210 is considerably faster while delivering significantly better scans from, as was the case when Lide20. The included software made on me at first also a better-thought impression that that was the Lide20. Anyway, my computer was crammed when installing the Lide 210 not again with useless and unbearable cost software (Arcsoft) for image processing. And not suffice whom the board means of Windows and Office, who finds enough free programs for image processing, all of which are better than those cheap software from Lide20. The included OCR software for text recognition is worlds better than the from Lide20! Handling of the OCR software self-explanatory and provides comparatively good results in text recognition in a very short time.

The great advantage of all that I know Canon scanner: Scan to PDF, also multilaterally and compressed with keyword search and the whole thing at your fingertips. The ability to generate PDF files is an exclusion criterion for me. New additions here are the options "orientation of text documents and images turn recognize" and "correct skew of the document". These two new options I find very helpful.

On one point, however, I must disagree with the marketing of Canon: Supposedly scans be possible when the device is upright in the stand. I did not get finished because the piece of paper simply getting down slips and then only half the original is scanned. How can you ask nicely position the template on the scanner glass and possibly fix, if the scanner is vertically ???

A final approach concerns: From the old USB connector (side panel, type B), a mini-B USB port. Since I have concerns about the mechanical strength. The Type-B male seemed to be simply more robust, since the scanner is enough space for it. Currently, however, no contact problem can be recognized and you will have to see how long does the jack and there is currently no penalty for it.

Overall, I give here a unique buy rating with 5 stars, since the product is to be assessed and not the manufacturer's drivers policy.
