Pros Windows 8.1
- In my notebook a SSD (Solid State Drive) is installed, which, among others, the launch of an extremely accelerated. So the notebook with Windows 8 is able to work after 15 seconds. With Windows 8.1, the startup was again improved. So the boats now takes only a few seconds. Even with a normal HDD HDD startup has become much faster. The same applies to the computer shutdown.
- After upgrading from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1, no single program had to be reinstalled.
- Again there is a start button, this is the usual place and is represented by the Windows icon. If you click it with the right mouse button, you get a variety of functions listed, such as Control Panel, Task Manager, Command Prompt, shutdown. If you click on this button with the left mouse button, you get to the Apps World.
- If you have opened one or more apps, appear the corresponding icons in the task bar at the bottom desktop. There you can attach them too. So no longer need to go above the mouse to the left, so that on the left hand side of Charmbar opens, in which the active Apps can be seen.
- If apps on Windows 8 were opened and one was on the desktop and wanted to click the mouse, for example, in an Excel table on the tab file, a Charmbar opened on the left side, which was used to. Now you have to move the mouse all in the upper left corner, before it opens Charmbar.
- An app you start continued with one click. Is really good, that you can finish on the famous X top right apps now. This no longer needs to go with the mouse to the top of the screen Position, press the left button for example and drag the mouse while holding down the button all the way down to close an app (really work under Windows 8). Also one can an app now, like any open in the desktop program, wegblenden (click on _ top right).
- If you start from the desktop a song, not the music app is started, but again the Windows Media Player.
Minuses Windows 8.1
- When you close an application in which the X clicks on the top right and you have reached with the mouse there, opens a Charmbar. This prevents the closing is not, but is also getting used to.
- When you open a file with an extension that you have not used up to now, you get a notice that it (new) Apps out there that you can open the file, even if you have already installed a similar program.
- A side effect after upgrade was, at least for me that everything was displayed reduced in Desktop.
Who currently installed Windows 8, should upgrade to perform WINDOWS 8.1. However, note that you have to download Windows 8.1. Appreciated are approximately 2 GB. If you do not fast DSL, must adapt to a longer download thereby.
Those who have not yet installed Windows 8 and now installs Windows 8.1 must register with Microsoft. This process is for most software products (eg anti-virus programs) now standard. And so this process is at Microsoft actually negligible. But two things are immediately noticeable.
1. When registering an account with Microsoft one must be set up. Okay, but one is forced to add itself a new and unnecessary e-mail address.
2. The registration must be carried out immediately. When you first time his (new) PC configured to their own needs and manage Firefox adjusts itself as the default browser, then the registration will not work, because this can only be done via the Internet Explorer.
Conclusion:
WINDOWS 8.1 has become much more user-friendly compared to Windows 8 and therefore also recommended.
