Monday's Ghost (Audio CD)

Customer Review

A fragile voice, a great personality greeted with a "Shape" to the sounds of an acoustic guitar. Such starter I like. Although I Sophie to their freshness and simultaneous Age wisdom sometimes very envy. The lyrics run, the melody flowing, and he who believes, after the first few minutes is nothing more inexpensive student, is at the very beginning - as I said - teaches with "Shape" better. "The boat is full" on the other hand seems a little anemic. I like women rather hungry in the pure and somewhat quiet version. Since I come "A Protest Song" just right, with his eagerly-languid "Hello Valentine ..." in the chorus. As she sings every word for guitar here is a sheer delight. Yes, it is only surpassed by the completely sung in German "Waltz for no one", that excited me from the first until the last nano-second. The text and the delicate presentation, accompanied by piano, glockenspiel and a distant trumpet let the two and a half minutes pass too quickly. "Birth-day" packs a hand again and travels a one piece in a different direction and thrilled with guitar and harmonica and equally remembered in the presentation of the very old Hasinnen Carole King and Joan Baez. In "Sophie Hunger Blues" you feel, Sophie sits with her guitar right next to one is placed and shiny skin in the pages. "Round and round" leaves a gyros, as the name suggested, to a comfort zone dizzy. A perfect reconciliation to "Party Song" on "Monday's Ghost", the play "The Tourist" that can textually nothing to be desired and with its siren song in the chorus quite memories but - precisely because it is a rather faster song again - not one of my favorite songs, and the overall picture of the CD a bit annoying for me. He prefers "Teenage Spirit" that starts with floating Percuission and menacing thunder and well enqueues in the alternative-indie cast of Florence + The Machines, Emiliana Torrini and Co.. And then they trickle back, the snowflakes. Just with the song "Rise and Fall" begins the snow level will rise again to. Überaschende instrumentation to "drain pipes" with piano, flute and if you think there is nothing left to catch the wind to cut and Sophie singing dramatically, like a piece of Swiss opera. This track will continue to serve on the title song "Monday's Ghost" that starts with a kind of minuet, while Sophie singing tells a ballad and a buzzing Sophie choir in the background. A masterpiece of song, for he who believes in the place there is nothing left to discover the music that has the English Schwitzer dütschen, breathless-transmitting midsection ignored. There to take a breather again a charming ballad beginning with "House of Gods" that jazz with guitar, piano, upright bass, drums and trumpet accompanied (great solo) and comes up with a "potential hit" melody. But even here there is a grand finale.
What Sophie has delivered here, inspires not only the Swiss (1st place in the local charts), but here too many insiders insider music lovers. The unconventional, very adult and personality strong debut "Monday's Ghost" inspired me ... from the first until the last second.
