This detective story combines several qualities: a gripping plot, characters with depth and an analysis of Swedish society uncompromising ... Wallander, police in a town in Sweden, is confronted with a series of brutal murders that will seriously undermine his vocation and his vision for the Swedish company. It's a thriller, sometimes very black, which tells us a difficult investigation in an environment that is just as (lack of staff / resources, a population exasperated by the daily violence ...). Mankell makes perfectly understandable survey by the reader, with moments of treading, discouragements, doubts and then excitement of sudden acceleration. A great novel, more than policeman.
