Rockn'roll, it begins as Dr. Feelgood who hired Daltrey, Led Zep was smart to install a reverb style balloche room to strengthen the roots side, very nice licks of Lespaul the ideal piece for vintage booms or gathering of old nostalgic c..s in headache shaking (I know whereof I speak!)
The Battle of Evermore, celtico_orientalisante guitar genre Fairport Convention. A tip: in the intro, replace the voice of the Plant by Jon Anderson and you get pure juice period Yes "and you and i" you will see is stunning (when Led Zep, progressive rock band J? 'see some who laugh ...). The chorus accents Tommy by The Who. A very nice piece, original and haunting.
Stairway to Heaven, "The piece", considered by Page himself as wedding music (???). Intro to the acoustic guitar picking, a million times over by guitarists apprentices fingers blood and tongue between the teeth, appearance of recorders outputs of Brandenburg or "good night small" (your choice!) . Plant's voice arrives, sublime and languid, and the divine agreements twelve strings announcing the final lecture, archetypal extension to solo, the heater Lespaul hard (do not try with a Strato, it does not work!)
The second side opens to Misty Mountain Hop, Boogie very heavy period Led Zeppelin II, barely lightened by the chorus more poppy.Sympa but not great.
Four Sticks used mainly to highlight the drumming of Bonham, a little superficial (the song, not Bonham!). Small Symphony bridge to Yes, but very short, phew, it took hot.
Going to California, nice little acoustic bluette we could find on a Pink Floyd album or Nick Drake, fortunately enerve by Robert Plant is time to remind us that we listen carefully Led Zep.Sympa anyway .
Finally, When the lift Breaks, very heavy rhythm harmonica insidious, creeping slide, it announces Aerosmith, Plant shouts, a kind of psychedelic blues and turned on.
A very good album, but a little uneven, and perhaps served by its excessive variety of styles.
A Legend, nonetheless. Long Live Rock!
Ps: my concierge suggested to me that the solo in "Stairway" would be played on a Telecaster and not a Lespaul ...
