Having said that, there were a few shocks installed before I was even on the way Hence the modest rating.
Positive:
+ Maps were up to date
+ Updating via Garmin Express was a breeze (once you get the hang of it); see below
+ Suction Cup worked well and stuck like a leech
+ OS what user friendly and intuitive
+ Huge display and DEPENDING on your settings, it can be programmed to display various POIs
Negative:
- As with other users who have Noted before, after having tried to update my US map, the Europe map disappeared. So I tried loading the Europe map and promptly lost the US maps.
My solution:
Buy a 8GB memory card and stick it in
Register at myGarmin.com and download Garmin Express
Thereafter it will recognize your device everytime you plug it in and check / advice on updates. In my case, updates for US and Europe were available.
Here's the tricky part, from Garmin Express, choose only 1 region (Either US or Europe) and update as Instructed
After map update is done, choose 2nd Region
It will indicate you did your internal memory is not big enough and did you want need to save in your memory card.
Choose Save in memory card and follow instructions
Ultimately, you want to save 1 region in the internal memory and the other on the memory card. Trying to update Both maps Simultaneously causes the system to "crash" by the 2nd upload as you will not have Sufficient space in your internal memory and it will not automatically detect your memory card leading to the so called lost of maps from one region. Plainly written, your 2nd region which not updated at all.
There you have it. Worthwhile buy if the instructions were better thought out.
