The larger the diagonal 1.3 Display of LG (270dpi) makes reading PDF documents a whole lot more enjoyable.
At Nexus, it is often necessary to zoom, what works well technically, but can slow down the flow of reading something. There again is to keep a lot more relaxed with one hand what the LG, depending on your hand size, succeed more or less well.
Basically, used in PDF book font and layout play a crucial role for convenient readability (width of the text in relation to the edge). What printed classy and appealing looks without compromising legibility is not optimal on a tablet (with less than 10 and no Retina display).
Here is my view on the part of the bookmakers still a lot of untapped potential - a book as a PDF issue and sell a little cheaper is not enough. The Süddeutsche Zeitung has adapted its layout also für`s electronic reading.
The speed of both devices I found rundrum convincing.
The display of the LG showed none of the often (again) mentioned error (uneven edge illumination, yellow tint), but is not as bright as that of Nexus by far. For a pleasant brightness (at Kaufhaus lighting), the regulator had to be pulled to approximately 70%. Colors or white tones are warmer than the Nexus, but noticeable only in direct comparison. Subjectively, I liked the Nexus screen still better.
Not so convincing was the LG is surrounded with this brightness maturity of 5:20 hours at a charge level of 96%. Ultimately needs a bigger display more power and a better part of the Nexus term could also be due to the newer version of Android.
Now I know that the Nexus (depending on frequency of use and lighting conditions) running 2-3 days on a single charge me with WLAN and reading.
Striking was the apparently poorer adjustment of LG to the Chrome browser.
At Nexus brings quick double tap the text display on the width of the display maximum possible. When the LG only seemed to work if the font size was chosen to fit in the system settings. Since these with a controller (percentages) can be adjusted, it was quite a hassle, until it finally fit. At the same time, the system font was changed and not necessarily optimal.
Android in the Google standard look or colorful-overloaded LG Android is a matter of habit - and taste buds.
The integierte LG screenshot function including marker I liked very much, something it does not necessarily reflect the Nexus Root. Otherwise, I found the LG customizations more annoying than useful.
The functions of the central (Home) and right softkeys are quite different. That was about as if blinkers, wipers and light switches have been swapped in the car. Yes, you can get used to it in a rental car is needed. Some of the softkeys at LG are also customizable. But if the phone is functioning normally, another tablet operation is very fast for me very troublesome. The LG-variant as Google Play Edition with Google Android is in Germany not available.
The SD slot has long been a major plus point for the LG Pad.
But the 32GB card in Lenovo was now almost full and I had to admit to myself that a 64GB card in the LG sometimes become full would. After mucking out the existing map was clear that the freely usable 26GB Nexus nearly enough if as hiking the 2012 vintages of magazines in a PC or NAS archive and still are accessible via an FTP access when needed. By Totalcomander or ES File Explorer which is very convenient possible.
However, the malice of this solution lay in a (to me) unknown Andorid detail.
Whatever is copied to the internal tablet storage, on which the date of the day on which it was copied. When copying to a (external) SD card the date remains unchanged. The image viewer QuickPic is indeed still able by shooting date (EXIF) to sort. But in all other files or a backup that quickly leads to chaos. The free app Syncme Wireless solves this problem by a small internal-run database, which seems to work, as long as the files are only moved with it.
After prolonged balancing I have ultimately decided für`s Nexus.
The value for money is outstanding, processing, screen, interior and battery life are very good, as the supply is backed up with the current Android versions - even if the thirst for knowledge of Google increases with each new version, and the way to control it are intertwined. The current CT Magazine 2014-02 provides in this respect very much qualified assistance for the establishment.
