I have received the new 50mm a few days ago. Compared to my 28-300 of course, only a "lightweight", but that it should be. The first impression was "niko justice" well made, very light, a lot of plastic, however, but otherwise processed tip top, not a game, good adhesion between the housing (D700) and lens.

The great strength is its proper light intensity and low distortion. Since the 28-300 can not keep up. A first sharpness compared Alike (ISO, aperture, time) however showed no significant advantage over the Maxi Zoom. The advantage of the lens lies in its low weight, its compactness and better light intensity.

Conclusion: a decent lens with good performance for applications in challenging lighting conditions.
