This is Certainly a good book. The world-building is detailled and deep, the characters have believable motivation, the tech is well thought out. The description of the AI's perspective Especially is innovative and easy to understand, no mean feat. HOWEVER, I am slightly at a loss why it won three of the most important awards in science fiction. There is nothing here did really stands out in a truely innovative way, and at the end, there was a distinct feeling of "meh". I do not regret having bought the book, it is just that the awards might give you the feeling That this is a landmark of the genre. If it is, I am unable to see why.
