Now - thanks to the aesthetic demands of my wife - I can convert me. Although I am certainly not an Apple-believer, yet completely thrilled by this machine. For design you hardly need to say something - there already makes itself unpacking fun! It is my übrigends not able to figure out how the thing was assembled - the housing is really like "in one piece". Only the three small screws on the bottom I have already resolved to spendieren the device 8GB more short-term memory (which makes use of, for example, when importing large amounts of photos or videos noticeable because almost nothing has to be swapped out).
But back to the point:
For me it was like this: Switching on and grin! Apart from the truly spectacular display, everything actually works now - and how! I scanners, DV cameras (via FireWire) hard drives, USB hubs, WDTVlive and printer connected (network), Fritz, gamepad, game mouse (that's the only thing that the ingenious Magic Mouse now can not really) and could use everything at once!
The OS is also highly recommended, but I have no comparison to Win7 (there should indeed have done something), but such functions I've never seen - hard to believe that things like iMovie, iPhoto and the mistaken GarageBand just like to get. I did not expect that you can actually use everything as intuitive. if something does not wiklich is clear holds the menu item Help Here also, what it promises: it will help!
The practical:
- All connections are easily accessible, cables can be run wonderfully invisible through the hole in the stand. Who frequently needs to the USB ports (eg for drives or disks) should also provide a small lift to the desk, otherwise you really have Always turn the screen ...
- Parallel operation of Windows (for example, to play or to control software (WiSo control only runs on Win ...)) is very easy via Bootcamp (of course with the OS included) possible. The device takes 5 minutes (the Windows install of course then the usual 40 minutes) - alternatively I have Windows installed as a virtual machine (via VirtualBox - for free). It then runs in the window - and stable! And If something hooked, who cares! just click away ...
- The machine is very warm - but that does not bother! The processors have a "suicide protection" and it affects only therefore unusually warm because the housing is used as a heat sink (which is also makes sense in as much aluminum)
- The sound of the built-in speaker is surprisingly good!
- Connections: If you want to connect a system, one uses the headphone output. Then, however, the internal sound is switched off and can only by pulling the jack reawaken (shame). You have no microphone input! (Only line-in) a great pity! Here helps only a USB headset!
- Magic Mouse: prima! small additional tool there also additional gestures (such as zoom in and out)
- Keyboard: very chic. beautiful anchorage point. fairly quiet. wonderful small! (I have the missing number pad rarely misses)
All in all I'm glad I did it! I would buy the iMac immediately. It is worth the money!
I have none of the above problems (noise, scratched CD, error on the display etc) can tell - and I counted on it very closely because of the negative reviews ...
I hope my little long guessed enthusiasm helps more ...
PS: I also still working in spite of everything with PCs: =)
