So - but now the camera, which I call my own for 2 weeks: Due to the short time it still These are however not a profound review. This I will adapt gradually.
First, I noticed that I felt immediately at ease with the camera ... Moving from Nikon D80 in Nikon D7100 is very easy. A long training period was not necessary because the operation works largely intuitive.
After some initial test shots immediately followed (far heaven ;-)), to compare them with the Nikon D80. And yes, you can see that a few years lie between the cameras and details are easily reproduced even finer. However, this also means that I have the future sure to put even a lot more money in better lenses. Since the technical reserves of the camera are really high (of course I see especially my good fixed focal lengths), my 0-8-15 zooms now no longer enough and I am already thinking about him as well a zoom of the so-called professional series feared ,
A huge plus and my previous assessment, the absolute strength of the camera is really the extremely well-functioning autofocus! It is fast and precise. The number of images (especially in Lowlight), the now sharply in the "box" hike, has extremely increased in percentage terms since the change of the D80! This course also helps the good noise performance of the camera, which made my estimation to ISO 1600 absolutely useful results. Even beyond that, the images are sorted by purpose also very neat. Who needs pictures anyway just for the dimensions 13x18, the ISO value of 1600 may increase significantly again. However, I leave the question of whether you are a Nikon D7100 for 13x18 images required times unanswered in the room ...
However, I can not bring themselves to give the camera 5 of 5 stars me. This is due to a problem with the Nikon in general should make improvements times - the continuous shooting speed! Especially with such a well-functioning and fast autofocus, more images per second would be quite appropriate - especially as Sony and Samsung and Co show that it is faster. With perhaps 10 instead of the usual 5-7 frames per second the camera would be really a real good camera. But there will (I do not think that they could not) Nikon is not simply ran. I think that's a shame, because the Nikon D7100 just limited in your potential quite a bit. And since I'm someone who likes holding his dog in time series of images, this is for me already an annoying and relevant criticism factor. This then also is the continuous shooting speed for about 2 seconds more slowly, we want to not only further mention ...
The size of the camera tends to be a significant change to the Nikon D80. It is noticeably larger. I have large hands and find it therefore really great. It is simply better than the D80 in hand.
So, for an initial evaluation extends this secure first :-) In due course I will add more updates.
1. Update on 06/01/2015
I have the camera still relatively new in use, but a few more things to add review: first place, still a very positive point - the battery life! As for I have been very spoiled by my Nikon D80. But the D7100 has there really again a draufgesetzt! 1000 Biler were in all battery charges without any problems - Sometimes even just over 1200 images. That is sometimes a Sony copy with electronic viewfinder ... and this for sure also has other advantages, love Sony users. Although I must say that I do not use the LiveView almost. This would certainly reduce the battery life considerably. But as I 99% look through the viewfinder, I can give to a shortened battery life without information.
However, I do not yet noticed in the few LiveView experiments that the autofocus is noticeably slower, WHILE you use Live View. Yet another reason why Live View is negligible at this Nikon in my opinion. This feature would make for me only in conjunction with a folding screen sense to photograph sometimes upside down or from the bottom (for example, Macro) can. A folding screen, however, does not provide the Nikon - ie Live View makes maximum sense even when filming.
