No man's band?

Live Full House [Remastered] (CD)

Customer Review

I have never met true fans of J. Geils Band, as there are die-hard Indochina, Tokio Hotel, BB Brunes or Bruce Springsteen.

Yet all amateurs confess love this album, then? Andrew Loog Oldham (the Rolling Stones manager, reminder for younger) said that a rock band more than five musicians is not commercially viable (exit so Ian Stewart!). The rednecks retort me with the successful example of Lynyrd Skynyrd: half true, you do have ever wondered about the real reasons Convair crash?

It must be said that in 1972, progressive-rock era and hard rock triumphant in the United States, J.Geils Band did not have all the cards to become the equal of the Stones (at this stage Editorial, my comment is already the most extensive study on the Boston group, ie the lack of interest that the media gave him).

Yet the six musicians, remove one and beautiful building collapses: J Geils is a talented guitarist, sober, efficient, not show-off for a penny! Peter Wolf is well worth Brilleaux and Lee Magic Dick (what scabrous nickname) is one of the best harmonica player I know (the duo, perhaps would it take to make a right at the Good Doctor?).

David Klein on bass and Stephen Bladd on drums form a flawless rhythm and Seth Justman on organ and piano adds a further layer groove level.

The sound is very good, very punchy, but with a typical seventies dynamic (no bass or bass drum compressed). Almost all the songs are covers (Smokey Robinson, John Lee Hooker, only Hard Drivin Man is a compo Geils & Wolf).

Here, no public or added to re-recordings as with CCR (Live In Europe). The length of the album is very short (36 mins), great! (I have more and more trouble with the gratefoule dédiens-marathon concerts).

I do not know if it's real rock, but it's real good music!
