No substitute for a full-fledged PC but on the couch a lot better than a tablet.

When I had read me something, I then ordered the Chromebook 14. After the first few days I'm excited right.

In the picture, the device looks silver. However, silver is only the area surrounding the keyboard. The rest of the casing is white. The Chromebook is very well made and the slightly rubberized surface material the outside is pleasant.

A PC so I can not completely replace, but 95% of my time I spend on the PC web browsing / read news and write e-mails and for this and much more, the device is perfect !!!

Pro:
The Chromebook runs 7s high within / as a rule, it is with me still in standby and therefore ready immediately after opening.
+ 14 inches is a good size for me (for the price of course, not full HD)
+ Touchpad responds very well: scrolling is almost as good as on the Macbook
+ Processing very good
+ Sound perfectly acceptable
+ Little fan noise
+ Very fast / far no performance issues visible
+ No annoying Windows updates more !!!
+ Battery life> 7 hours (maybe it's even longer but so I'm quite happy)
+ Chrome Remote Desktop (app with which you can for example easily access a Windows PC on the only Chrome has to be installed as a browser)
+ App for Spotify available (works fine)

Contraindications:
- The display will show grayscale to not very good. For dark videos you can see the different shades of gray. Others can display (without full HD much better) (possibly only a software bug is fixed yet).
- RAM 2 GB only and not self-expandable (currently not a problem, but would have been better for me as for the 4GB model with 3G)

Important caveat: Up to Keyboard / Mouse no devices are connected which require a driver. Printer can be integrated via Google Cloud Print. I already had an HP ePrint printer that can be used without any problems.

One can easily and quickly set up multiple users (with Google Account eg from your mobile). In addition, you can host users or so-called supervised user (without Google account) set up. So you can easily control which apps the Junior may use and which websites can be accessed. This course, you can also evaluate easily.

Overall, I was rarely satisfied with a computer. Since I often surf with many tabs I am with the Chromebook much faster than with an Android Tablet or iPad. Therefore, despite less compromising 5 Stars!
