Software: The installation in Windows is running smoothly and that the scanner is recognized immediately and once completed is actually ready. However, it is worthwhile to employ a bit more closely at the driver (Epson Scan).
Epson Scan has four modes: Each mode has a number of preset values, which can not be changed for the part. In ascending order of flexibility they are called: Fully automatic, standard, office and professional. In Professional Mode, you can not only practical change all parameters of the scanner, but also very practical save your settings in different profiles. The other modes should be treated with caution. Especially the fully automatic often does not seem to be able to recognize the extent of the original to be scanned properly and map (ADDENDUM:. The unit seems to need to learn after I've used it for several days and without my (conscious) engagement now. the extent recognized correctly in all modes and displayed. The ease of use is thus increased considerably).
Document Capture Pro allows the scanning, processing and sending of document groups to external servers (cloud), but also to local folders.
Additional software:
Copy Utility: Allows you to use the interconnection scanner + computer + printer as a (color) copiers. Works pretty well, even with printers of other manufacturers.
Online manuals: Quite a disaster. The bad habit to provide instructions for use only as a file available is bad enough, but at least they should be offered in a pleasant-to-read and easy to print (PDF, for example) and not as web pages, where even the navigation leaves much to be desired.
The included OCR software ABBYY FineReader has a good reputation and in my experience it is usually sufficient for sporadic use. But it is annoying because it implants itself as an add-in in the Normal template of Word, is activated at each start and at each new document and can be rein only with drastic measures (for easy removal is not enough: they're back!).
The collection of ICC color profiles can only be from the genuine interest, if you will apply them consistently color management in image processing.
The ArcSoft MediaImpression is only of interest if one does not yet have appropriate software, or is dissatisfied with it.
In summary, the Perfection V37 a picture in which outweigh the extremely positive aspects. Particularly high I expect to, in addition to optoelectronics and precision engineering, the good agreement with the driver (in the Professional Mode) enables extensive control of the hardware.
