I wanted a notebook keyboard, I work a lot by studying and working on the laptop and therefore wanted to write a similar feeling for the home PC.
Secondly, the keyboard should have a good processing (gaps, etc.) and fit visually with the existing (black and silver) hardware. In too large multimedia bells and whistles (display, 20 hot keys, lighting) I can do without.
All` these requirements the Cherry EASYHUB met very satisfactorily. The design with the scheduled USB port is intended matter of taste, the benefit, however, is indisputable. As seen in the photos, this is basically a simple USB extension. This demonstrates the Tasta unless you want to use the USB port, 2 USB ports on the computer. But also a USB2.0 data transfer is required: OB USB stick, disk, USB headset or LED light - everything works perfectly.
Multimedia buttons you will find well-measured. At the top are buttons for calculator, mail program, browser and standby, as well as the WMP. On the silver palm rest and the housing is buttons for volume and WMP control. The fear that you could activate these keys by mistake while typing, has not been confirmed. You need a firm pressure and by the flush fit they are not activated by light pressure.
The most important thing: Typing on the keyboard - All in all, you get offered a standard layout, that is, the spacing between the keys and keypads are "normal" sized, which is not the case with all notebook keyboards. The keystroke is very (!) Quiet and soft compared to other products in this price range. However, the key travel is very (!) Small. This requires selbt notebook users something getting used from. Since the keys, as usual, are not trapezoidal in side profile, but completely flat, the target area is larger. Thus then even larger men hands find their way.
Weight / feel: The keyboard is "pleasant difficulties". In other words: You get the feeling, to use well-made technology. Thankfully, the entire keyboard matte black and correspondingly insensitive (dust, scratches, fat fingers). At the edges and into the USB port has been working with Gloss, which fits well into the rather minimalist / noble held design.
And as just the "eye mittippt" I have found in this keyboard a good compromise between functionality, style and last but not least pleasant typing. For the price (around 30, -) really gets you a considerable piece desk facilities. For me, for years one of the best keyboards I've bought for relatively little money. And since the P / L is true, I give 5 out of 5 stars.
UPDATE in July 2011 - after 1.5 years (!)
I usually give me updates after prolonged use, there with me did not keep products in the IT sector often as long or be replaced by something better. Unlike here: Despite daily and intensive use (! Even LAN parties) has my EASYHUB still absolutely no signs of aging: All labels are still there, no key wobbles, squeaks or fell out - just a few buttons that shine are just often used in the middle slightly greasy, but that's the only visual indication that it is no longer dewy. The volume is a little (!) Felt risen, but otherwise? Still a sizable keyboard for laptop keyboards lovers nice stop and writing. The USB hub makes even his service. I see still no reason to change the keyboard ... and usually I'm pretty hasty when it comes to PC peripherals. Toll!
UPDATE in July 2012 - after 2.5 years (!)
After many more thousands of keystrokes, a graduation work, many home-office hours, many hours Games, the keyboard still works perfectly. She looks also still gorgeous - the design is still chic and timeless. The labels are still all there and the cleaning very easy, because the buttons are just barely arched: damp cloth - done. (!) The only signs of wear: One of the rubber feet on the housing base dissolves now. So I hurried along with Tesa. Now I know: If the keyboard now gives up the ghost, I order tomorrow a Cherry and probably again a EASYHUB.
