The main character is the only girl in a family of boys and she came from a bourgeois family (international trade).
However, she chose a military career.
The family disapproves of this character (roughly) this choice, but the reader fully agree with him because thanks to this decision, he will see the country and ultimately will stay on the bridge of a sumptuous space ship that will not if military that finally.
Sociocultural universe encamped by the author in this novel are quite varied and solidly considered and this provides a solid feel very functional and interesting credibility.
The military career of Kylara Vatta (our heroine) will know the hazards (quite sensational) from the start and in the first third of the novel, she will get a command on a merchant ship.
And therefore, it's off to commercial rivalries and muscular for a ride to countries merchants to not always orthodox methods and in vessels which do not always have the form.
The characterization is quite developed, aspects "military" are developed and cared for and the issues are meaningful while the environments are credible.
On the merits, this novel is primarily the story of a young woman on the bridge in a risky world, random and changing.
As often happens when the author presents a female character in the heart of the story, the part paid to the psychological developments camping this character, generates an aspect "dragging" the plot in general, and this may offend some readers who were hoping for a more frenzied pace (and yet indisputably the adventures abound).
In exchange for the psychological aspects, the reader inherited in this novel, the rather sharp study of study of a young woman to conquer a difficult environment, here a vessel and its crew, a young woman who is s install securely in a universe that is quite competitive and bitter (see the title). A universe of cleavages "ideological" multiple ..
In this novel, he is not superhuman heroes unusual but strong characters who succeed in not obvious shots .. it's like in life and not quite as in stereotypical junk novels and heroic nickname that abound.
The main character is, here, quite in the center of the novel and it has aspects that seem agreed if they were well established on moult indisputable subtleties.
I must say that the author's characters (especially female characters) often plunge me into some disarray because there are often undeniably strong characters but with some consistency based on fairly stereotypical dynamics.
If the character cared characters and context were not so neat, I know I would dismiss outright the texts ..
It's weird actually, because I want more often but I'm almost always as a tightrope while playing!
This is the case here, but it's a good novel, a space opera quite correct that the space environment is firmly placed and present.
For readers who would experience by the author of translations, I would say that this text is stylistically level: The strong and infinitely superior to that: Pirates planets for example.
Four stars, a little backwards, but good enough motivating reading in the end!
