Even after the removal of unnecessary bloatware paralyzes the device. Even the loading easier software like LibreOffice takes a long time, and the parallel operation of a few programs (eg browser, Office, iTunes) slows down the device completely. The hard disk load is almost always at 100% - obviously, because the computer is constantly engaged in outsourcing due to small memory.
If you think why on upgrading the memory, it will negatively surprised when open again: Of the two possible RAM slots only one exists - because the manufacturer has saved the soldering of the second slot, which the insertion of an additional storage latch impossible makes. Only the replacement by a larger possible.
But a test as ordered 4GB memory modules could be plugged easily - the Acer ran after installation without further highly mutated and immediately fixed Windows 8 machine. The difference was so great that one might almost believe that they have the same computer in front of him.
Of course, from the Acer also with 4GB RAM not a machine for multimedia producer and hardcore gamers (if only because of underpowered Celeron processor), but a universal and affordable notebook that by a very compact design (pleasantly flat), useful speakers to please a good screen and a large 500 GB hard drive and white.
One more thing: When the built-in wireless antenna was probably saved the Acer Aspire. Where other laptops and wireless clients can easily maintain the connection, the Acer is weakening a bit - terminating connections and low data rate are the result. Through a 10-euro-WLAN stick but remedy could also be created here - and depending on the reception situation may not be a decisive criterion for each.
In summary:
Pro:
- Good value for money (after upgrading to 4GB of RAM)
- Good screen
- A surprise to the compact housing size good speakers
- Very compact
- Quiet (hard drive barely audible)
- Large hard drive
Contraindications:
- Wireless receiving below average
- Comes in 2 GB equipment with preinstalled 64-bit Windows - what did not work
As the star rating refers to the 2GB version, there are only two of a possible five. One is subtracted due to the 64-bit operating system that does not match the memory, due to the lack of a second RAM slot, the third because of WLANs. In the 4GB version, it would loose rich to four stars.
