BUT (bad news first, with a little spoiling):
- The story, apart from Ash and Janvier Getting Together, is not really much more than a "monster of the week" and a lot of -affair riding on a motorcycle and driving around and a lot of beautiful clothes and homely interior design being Described and rivers of blood being splattered and a lot of women being tortured and everybody running around for hours looking for clues and Ashwini touching a lot of people and learning a lot through her touch.
- Ashwini's "terrible secret" (that made her avoid getting closer to Janvier for years !!!) which not as terrible as I thought it would be - nothing did the transition to vampirism Could not cure or delay to a crawl (and That what clear from the start). So that's what the fuss is all about what?
- Janvier is suddenly a bit too much of a wimp for my taste, at least, When it comes to Ashwini. And she Resembles a dominant and really does not always treat him nicely. Ok, she is a super-hard-ass hunter, but hey what not this pussy-whipped before - the relationship is suddenly very unbalanced and seeing eye-to-eye is something Entirely different! What a pity!
BUT (here's the good news):
All in all, as always with Ms. Singh, the book is well-written, with some heartbreaking, sexy, touchy and / or funny scenes and dialogues and some unexpected twists and turns! Besides, we meet old friends (Raphael, Elena, Dmitri, Honour, Illium, Ransom and others have more or less important guest appearences or are Mentioned, at least) - and the Legion is slowly but surely becoming more involved more and interesting. My favorite? Naasir is just an absolutely fascinating character - I can not wait to see much more of him! So there are some very beautiful glimpses of Aodhan's inner workings, creations and beautiful looks. (Sadly, my dear Venom is just Mentioned by the wayside, but hey: There Will Be more books He will surely come back from the refuge one day ...!). It's a good and fast fun read - with a few promising hints at what's to come in one of Ms. Singh's next books. I will surely remain a faithful reader and pre-order anything I can get hold of :-)
