The Nikon Coolpix S6600 has a 12x optical zoom and 16 megapixels. The swiveling monitor has a maximum of 2.7 inches (= 6.7 cm).
Scope of supply:
In addition to the camera is provided:
Strap, audio / video cable EG-CP16, Rechargeable Li-ion Battery EN-EL19 (with battery case), AC adapter Charging EH-70P, USB Cable UC-E6, CD-ROM with ViewNX 2 CD-ROM Reference Guide
Appearance / Handling:
The camera body is burgundy and thus very appealing / chic.
The camera itself is well in hand. It is very light and can be safely stowed in the trouser or jacket pocket. A bag of this is not very necessary, but rather cumbersome.
The display has 6.7 cm of a good size, where you can clearly see "view again" later in both the shooting than anything. Even in absolute sunlight can all be viewed properly here. The monitor can be swung out and in 180-degree angle to re-engage in the recess so that the monitor is always recognizable to find on the outside. For me positively, I also usually "out" let them, so that the camera is always ready for use. However, one should coat a protective film in this case, since the monitor otherwise may quickly gotten scratches, especially if you always only fit into a jacket pocket or throw in the handbag.
At the top of the camera there are the buttons for turning on and off (On / Off) and here there is an immediate star deduction from me: The switching on and off takes part too long. Actually, I see so small cameras as "shoot cameras", but until the camera is finally ready for use, the subject is perhaps already "gone". Many a time you go faster, but sometimes it just hooked. You have the button so very firmly and press exactly what especially for men with large hands / fingers u. U. something may be to "Fieselarbeit".
Top is also the push to find and playback for subsequent viewing of prerecorded photos. And also to get quickly to the scene menu.
Menu navigation:
The menu (button next to the screen) is quite simple and self-explanatory. Here you can simply times to try each. From here take before the initial settings such as time, date, etc..
Scene menu:
Here you have many choices of Scene Selection.
Either the "Scene Auto Selector". Here, the camera examines the optimal setting depending on the light, etc.
Below that is a submenu in which you can set the scene individually such. B. Animal Portrait, Landscape, Sports, Night Scene, etc. It is important that one changes this during capture, as it is otherwise set also for subsequent recordings !!
"To" find ways of blur, but also nostalgic recording (sepia z. B.) or paintings, etc. Again, you have to make the settings after recording undo!
Next there is the Smart Portrait and automatic. Here the camera selects everything indivdiuell.
Video:
Video recordings are also possible with the camera. Here, the video camera is right character of the display and a red dot, with which you can start and stop recording. It is important that you insert a suitable for video recording SD card (pay attention to the write speed), as this otherwise u. U. is not possible or aborts quickly. The quality is ok but of course, not comparable with a real video camera. It is between more suitable for short recordings, nothing you want to hold for eternity.
Important settings:
In order to achieve good results, it is important to make the correct settings.
So I recommend, under the menu item image quality / size definitely the 16M to choose with 4608x3456. Although The smaller you choose the image size, the more pictures fit on the SD card, but the worse the quality of what you then get to see especially when you zoom in and photo books quickly.
Even the image stabilizer, I would switch among the settings at any rate, because of this but may contain the normal shake well.
Image Quality:
The picture quality is "ok" - for owners of a digital SLR but certainly not great. It's a good snapshot camera on the go - no more, no less. Taken in bright light (sun) photos, act on A4 still quite good - it is larger then but already difficult.
Wi-Fi:
Whoever wants to can set the camera so that pictures directly on the smartphone - is transmitted and then you can directly put on the Internet this - wirelessly. Who needs it, ok. A nice gimmick, but is not very important in my eyes. Because you can take the picture without any problems with the phone to get it to load them directly from there to the Internet, if you want.
Conclusion:
A good snapshot camera for the road if you do not want to take the big SLR. But with such a course comparable in any way. Positive is the size and weight. Negative, I find that the special settings (special scene selection) persist even when you turn off the camera. This should be cleared after power off. Sometimes you just forget it, switch back, and then taking landscapes on the "Tierportät" z. B.. And the speed of switching on and off could be a bit better.
