Now it has become the Citizen, also because I have already made good experiences with this brand in the past. First of all: I find the design a little overweight, it would have liked to see something simple and elegant. However, the clock is like the great by the functionality and ease of use while slack off again.
So this clock is one of the rare specimens that can display different time zones at the same time three (!). For this they used in addition to the large analog display and the digital box at the bottom right, both of which can be set to any time zones, even a small 24-hour analog display in the "12", which always indicates the Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). The large analog display indicates the local time, and can be synchronized with the geographically next time signal. The hour hand is mechanically coupled to a second, small hour hand at the "2", which is designed as a 24-hour display. The time zone of the analog and digital display can be easily replaced at your fingertips, making the clock ideal for commuters between two time zones.
The clock knows the stations in Japan, China, USA and Germany. The synchronization takes place three times a day take place automatically, but can also be started manually. During synchronization, the clock will show for a few minutes at any time, stop the analog displays. The mostly does not interfere, as the synchronization takes place in the early morning hours. The setting summer / winter time can be set individually for 45 time zones. Both manual and automatic adjustment. 44 time zones are programmed, you can set a own. The time difference in 15-minute increments can be set.
The time can also be adjusted manually, which is not necessarily standard for a radio clock. The manually set time keeps the clock until the next synchronization with a time signal, what you also can switch off completely.
Since I am amateur sailors, I like the bezel of the clock very well, which is designed as a slide rule. This can be quite quickly perform multiplication and division. Markers for important units (miles, kilometers, Amer. Miles, kg, lb., Liters, gallons ...) can already be found on the bezel and dial. So I can quickly and fairly accurately convert miles to kilometers and vice versa. A tachymeter is missing, but you can calculate speeds by using the slide rule. The bezel ring is just about the crown at the "8" adjustable, which makes things right-handed bit fiddly.
The clock continued to course nor the "basic functions". You can display the date in the digital display, has a timer up to 99 min and two separately adjustable alarm times also adjustable separate time zones. As with all I know Citizen models the alarm volume is not very high, as an alarm clock is the clock rather unsuitable.
The face of the clock is a bit overloaded with information and advertisements, there have even flinch the luminous indexes. Despite their very different sizes but the clock is easy to read in the dark, because form the major indexes at "11", "1", "5" and "7" a highly recognizable "X". The indices shine - as it should be common practice today - easily a whole night and are easy to read even at dawn. However, the clock can not be operated in the dark, because the mode hand is missing an index. The lighting of the digital display does not work in any mode, eg the stopwatch is not in the dark. Occasionally, the digital display is also covered by the hands, but what you usually still get by appropriately holding the clock skew in the handle. If not, you can still change the time zone ;-)
The operation of the clock like it largely because it is fairly intuitive. The manual is comprehensive and detailed, but is bursting of howlers and strangely awkward expressions. But one understands most of what is meant.
One small problem I had when shortening the bracelet. The strap pins are provided with tiny clamps that you can lose very quickly. If one pushes a pin in direction of the arrow, then lands his collet in the middle part of the strap member on the side of the arrow. If you keep this side down, the sleeve falls out. They can indeed be just as easily used again, but is really only a few millimeters in size. Without the sleeve, the pin slips easily through the band members through.
Conclusion: A beautiful part both for the professional aviator and for the amateur sailors. The biggest drawback for me is the lack of light in the index mode pointer, but there's now no penalty.
