Postive:
+ Does not make trouble. The adapter has worked with any SATA disk, and reliable.
+ Is fast: Even a relatively recent Samsung SSD running at this adapter at full speed (500MB / s sequential)
+ * No * obfuscation: HDD / SSD is displayed in the device manager as what it is. Formatted with the adapter and recorded disk can be installed and continue to be used later internal and vice versa.
(I mention this because there is in this respect, unfortunately, negative examples, such as USB hard drives Intenso, a Seagate hard drive to the device manager as nothing aussagende "Intenso External USB 3.0 USB Device" foist. Outside the housing you can see the data on the hard disk not read more ...)
+ Flexibility / Price: The combination "normal HDD / SSD" + adapter is cheaper than comparable full-USB hard drives, and you can change the drive / SSD later uncomplicated. I've been running for over a year on a daily basis, among other things, a Samsung SSD so.
+ For 2.5 "- and 3.5" - hard drives and SSD suitable.
+ Do I have to "fast times" an old hard drive inspect / copy, then the adapter is extremely helpful.
Negatives:
- The adapter comes with a medium-sized power supply (the one blocked in additional socket strips with inclined sockets) and can only be operated using this. This also applies if, for example, an SSD is attached that would normally do with the power from the USB port.
- It should be obvious: To operate in car, train or plane, the device is not intended and not recommended, as the hard drive / SSD is not attached to the adapter, and despite a tight fit there is a danger that it dissolves. There is truly more compact and firmer shock external hard drive solutions for the travel.
So I like that part a lot. :-)
