Most PC systems still sound very thin and break the sound literally.
But there are a few positive exceptions and these include the Hercules XPS 2.0 30!
The biggest shortcoming of most PC-Speaker, the low mids (the fundamental range of singers) they form better than the competition.
2.1 systems have generally a problem here, but also the most 2.0 speakers produce no vocals volume.
Even the Creative GigaWorks T20 Series II 2.0 Speakers, whose sloping housing front very suits me, was able to achieve a balanced sound in any position of Klanregler despite power and a very good Cloth dome tweeters - even with bass to the left, the bass were still stronger than the low mids ,
Therefore, for me, the Hercules XPS 2.0 30, the clear winner in its price range (and slightly above), since they total of just sound on roundest.
Only the tweeter can not quite keep up with the fabric dome of the T20 (T40), sounds a little pointed because it draws even more treble than the high mids.
Here, however, the 50 boxing beat virtually all models of Bose or Logitech in the high frequencies, even if they are well above 100!
Also one must here at Equaliser not rumschrauben wild: The detented center position agrees almost perfectly. Who is a little too pointed, depending on line-up sounds: turn over 11 clock and basta!
Who on the more expensive Hercules Speaker XPS 2.0 60 squints:
Yes that are actually even better and that's why I switched to its big brother the XPS 30.
From the wooden cabinet and the 2x15W I would have expected more, here I can see no great difference.
But here another tweeter is installed and the sounds again balanced than the T20 or T40.
Generally, I can but express an absolute buy recommendation for both systems:
In your price range, both models are sound alone on a limb.
Many much more expensive systems may perhaps be louder, or fabricate a merciless disco bass - below 100 supply the 2.0 systems from Hercules, the roundest sound.
More you get only when you invest in sytems of hell (other price league) or his computer connects to a PianoCraft Yamaha.
Who does not want a sledgehammer to crack a nut, buys the Hercules and can handle the volume achieved in such a short listening distance (near-field!) Well live!
One last tip:
Right out of the box sound the Hercules-Speaker not good.
The drivers have to import for a while, and at the latest after a few hours they are running then like clockwork!
Do not be alarmed, I have never experienced at any speakers that these be improved so extreme when importing ...
