When unpacking quickly turned out that the device is loud plastic plus processed klapperig. Especially the headphone jack and the SD card slot, it will not last long. Even the Gehaese did not rule on the screen, all the details but notice strong then.
At first I had started a couple of PDF files to load on the BeBook e-reader. That worked just fine.
But then only problems ...
First, the BeBook e-reader is not able to turn to "text reflow" on. For example, pages with two columns are always completely ausvergroessert over the full width, which then but not sufficient. Besides, are only 3 zoom levels.
Then I tried my SD card. Unfortunately, only 1 recognized by 4 cards. I had several models of Sandisk, Hama and Transcend from 512 MB to 2 GB.
The most annoying was then that suddenly all files are deleted on the BeBook e-reader at the be-end USB connection to the PC. Total without reason. Everything was just ... WAY.
To resolve these issues, I then searched on the BeBook forum. Quick many buyers became clear that similar problems with struggling with their BeBook e-reader.
The e-reader is not ready for the market for me. It may be however that the open format is commendable that takes not away that this device is far too unstable for the average user, for example, a reader like me. You just can not expect the customer that he / she spends to find solutions to get around de easiest things running, for example, use the SD card in BeBook hours Forum.
I have the BeBook sent back and instead bought the PRS-505 e-reader from Sony. I must admit that this device is absolutely no doubt light years ahead in comparison with the BeBook. The Sony e-reader is metal and everything is extremely solid processed (buttons, switches, headphones). One can compare it with a 3000 EUR Apple iBook (the Sony) and a no-name notebook from discounters (the BeBook).
Of course I first doubted the PRS-505 to buy Sony because its software but it turns out that Sony has learned since its "Connect" software to much! Everything goes smoothly.
Conclusion For the BeBook e-reader: too expensive, poorly finished and unstable software disabled. A niche product for people who like to "tinker" (and read a little) ...
