So I took pleasure to find McKenzie, heroin narrator of this story. This last book begins with his vagabond and morose mood. Three weeks ago she was rescued by Kyol, it is related to him and qu'Aren was rejected. Aren she believed goodbye, she would have liked to come back to him, but he has not approached three weeks he keeps his distance.
Yet it is far from Kyol and repels as much as she can her attraction to him. Despite the intense bond that now exists between them, a link that allows them each to feel what the other feels. To escape all this, dangers and torments of his heart, so McKenzie takes his little life and leaves the human kingdom. A boring job, a basic comfort, remoteness of the two men who are suffering ... She does not really know where she is, with this terrible feeling that she flunked her love life n ' is a disaster. She mopes without finding comfort in his own universe, until she feels their link Kyol is in danger. Neither one nor two, here distributed to the kingdom ... he did not need him to feel more useful.
And we go for a race between the dangers and intrigues to the silver yard.
The throne of Lena has never been threatened, the high nobles do not recognize it as queen, one of them always wants the head of regicide, and worst of all, an "unclean" endowed with a particularly strong powers gathered around him a rebellion. In this chaos, everyone will fight for their sacrifices were not in vain. For Lena sits its authority, that impostor, that impure or defeated. the task is particularly hazardous.
I admit that if you had not read the two previous volumes, just before, you may, like me, to be quite clueless. Overall, we get to follow, and we let very easily wear the very rhythmic narrative. A balance fairly well balanced between action fighting scenes, political frame and the sentimental pangs of love triangle so attractive.
I was really embedded in this new volume, even though I admit to not having had that little "something" that had attracted me as much in the first part.
Indeed, I found that some things were fairly predictable or easy. He missed some details, a little more explanation to understand the background story of the kingdom. This time, we are very far from a "Kuschiel". In addition, our heroes will always go out with a pirouette, McKenzie seems transformed into "wonder wooman" ... And above all I found it lacked details on the secondary characters. There are many, all lovable or hateful, but we know almost nothing about them. I would have wanted more we know Lena, what do think Kyol, Lorn, Naito, Trev, Paige ... that the author offers us other romances, as in the first part with the history of Naito and Kelia. No, we are focused on McKenzie and her two suitors. This narration in the first person and the internal point of view appeared to me very simplistic. I have wanted to learn more about the realm of the fae and the friends and enemies of heroin ...
Finally, I found the end very fast. I wanted a bit more of an epilogue to know what happened to all the characters, but I have a feeling, or rather hope that the author will give us may be a spin -off. For though I have just mentioned a few reservations, I have nevertheless enjoyed my reading.
In short a very good series for fans of urban fantasy, romance with love triangle, and adventure. A fictionalized account of course, but remains modest and does not flood us free sensual and erotic scenes like certain series of the genre.
A third volume in the first line, but not the best in my opinion.
