The book is heavy (795g) compared to simple guide provided by Canon (167g), in part because it is inflated by digressions that have nothing to do with the 600D and are likely copied and pasted from a university photography course given by the author / teacher. This heavy weight seems to exclude that the book can be carried in a camera bag, especially as it would also bring the original guide Canon because it is often necessary to refer to it, the new simplicity missing guide. These digressions are certainly very interesting for students of photography, but largely pass over the head of the average photographer (Examples: ICC profiles (), technology and mechanics of zoom lenses, external flash using the techniques, a full commercial catalog different zooms, piloting the computer-600D). Much more serious in my opinion is the fact that we found only 3 and a half pages on the free software provided by Canon's Digital Photo Professional, used to process RAW files, but 15 pages on other software (paying) dealing the same subject. I think we could have instead present the histograms provided by DPP and show examples of how to use them to edit a photo (like what is moving an anchor point on the curve near the diagonal histograms). Good point: very clear explanation of the need to turn around the optical center for short panoramas; very bad point: a huge mistake for a teacher to say that pentaprismes faces are adjusted micromillimeter close which just is not physically possible! In summary a poor quality / price ratio.
