Ok as a toy

Theoretically, this camera might be all you need. Unfortunately, it fails in practice to supposedly simple things. So there I never managed to connect the camera through the WPS connection with the router. A wireless connection only was possible, in which the camera is connected via a network cable to the router, then stored the wireless data over the camera software on the camera, staked again and was then re-connected wirelessly. Unfortunately, this program goes after the camera is lost, so I at the monitored location (which happened to degrees not directly located next to the router) again had no connection with the placement of the camera. WLAN was then eventually no longer, so that I finally once then crossed a very long network cable from the router through the house to finally get the thing up and running at all.

The monitor itself is okay. Image quality was - for my needs - both in day as night scenes perfectly adequate. You can also set different screen resolutions in the software. The motion detection works, but is very prone to false alarms. An interesting feature is the send of 3 still images by e-mail in case of motion detection.

For reasons of data amount I take the email function to use me for a short time decided the recording to SD card. Here short video clips are recorded in the case of motion detection. These have partly on coding errors, so that the clips such as not Media Player can be played in Windows. (Other players like VCL can selbsständig fix and play the video the mistake, however.) However, there is no way by software remotely access the SD card, which is in my opinion the most serious errors at this point. You have to remove the card from the camera to look at the computer that is therein. This has meant that I realized after a few days that had the record for days not taken place. I found no evidence of the source of error, nor was there any alarm that the problem exists at all. Such a failure makes the camera unfortunately in practice for me unusable. I can not and will not remove the SD card every day to check and hope if / that the recording works today times. Such a device must be absolutely reliable!

For software, I can say that there is an Android app and a Windows application. Both share similar goals, namely the control, live image display and configure the camera. This works in principle, if one has since managed to time how to achieve a functional configuration. The live image is transferred fortunately over the local network peer-to-peer, ie without Internet or similar upload, which is particularly useful Internet traffic. Both programs suffer from the typical shortcomings that so often appear in software that are supplied by hardware manufacturers from the Far East. Instead of a halligalli Colorful interface implement the more annoying and restricts the uses, you should rather work on stability, consistency and functionality of the software. So some things are possible only in the app, others only in the desktop software, but not in both. Basically, you need both programs to access all features and then must be equal time times with Android device and work times with desktop PC.

Summary:
Honored and grade 3 stars so that the product is basically functioning. 2 star deduction that it is very reliable, a lot of time on it goes with troubleshooting and trial and error when configuring the software and features some still require significant development.
