Positives:
- Also plays .flac (lossless Archive)
- To bring everything from the local network (clearances)
- Provides a USB inserted media in the home network for other devices ready
- Copes well with an attached 2 TB hard drive with NTFS
- There really surround sound from
- There may be a USB keyboard can be connected !!! (Very useful during initial setup / network settings)
Negatives:
- Partially sluggish response to remote control (especially in media-DB update, but also in the menus)
- Production of the network connection on power sometimes takes quite long, as well as the entire startup process (up to 1 minute)
- Individualization bit tedious (wallpaper) device
- Built-in screen savers are potthässlich; no useful transitions in your own photos, not a useful zoom; no useful moving display with music playback - it simply stops the list of titles, not even the (recognized) Cover images are somehow used to "Beautify".
- Media DB recognizes under "Artist" only the performer, not the composer. In Pop / Jazz is not a problem, with a classical music archive that is of course completely useless. You must then switch to the Navigation folder structure on the media - you can, but is somehow not the intention.
- The navigation through the media DB does not allow multi-stage selection. So When results are sorted by "artists" all artist are displayed, even if they originate from multiple albums. It is not possible, then select an album specifically for the selection of the artist.
- Remote control app (Android) does not intervene directly on the media DB and therefore allows no control without turning on TV possible.
Yes, the box will play everything I want. But the ease of use does not correspond to some extent what is obvious to just any smartphone media player. And that's for the third generation of this device and the fact that the media play is the main function, but a little weak.
Addendum:
For the use of Internet services of the player is actually a disaster. It is completely dependent on the apps WD: since then though Facebook, YouTube and TuneIn this (who knows if the next time you update yet), but it is not possible to open any unforeseen streams. The box also contains no (no matter how rudimentary) Internet browser. When times Android sticks to hit the market with a functioning surround-sound output, the device will be kicked out very quickly.
