When I read the very positive review about their new album in the 'Good Times', I was like, "Well no exaggeration times.", But later I have to say 'Give My Love To London' is really amazingly good. As on other albums Marianne has often difficulties with articulation, but as the saying goes, she puts her soul into the songs. My absolute favorites are the sinister subliminal 'Late Victorian Holocaust' (Nick Cave) and 'Mother Wolf' (Faithfull, Leonard). Such a brilliant version of the Everly Brothers song 'The Price Of Love' I never expected.
Supposedly she has 'Give My Love To London' yes ironic, but speaks longing from the song. Roger Waters 'Sparrows Will Sing' provides fantastic guitar work. 'True Lies', 'Lovemore Or Less', 'Falling Back' and 'Deep Water' are melancholy manner just beautiful. In 'Going Home' I'm not sure if it is only the reference to Cohen, who speaks to me. And as a conclusion follows an insane version of I Get Along Without You Very Well ', a real classic, which really goes to the kidneys. An excellent album, and you do not want to admit how old Marianne is now.
