I have about a week in use and am still thrilled. Previously I had a Yamaha YHT-S401 - and this new model has compared to the previous a much better spatial effect, more subtlety in the sound (especially in language and bright tones), much more bass power and affects the whole adult. More setting option brings this model also, of the DSP programs to individually adjustable channel values, etc.
I run the unit with a Sky receiver, an Apple TV and PS3 - each with HDMI connected. Everything was going right away - and in the PS3 for example, all the codecs were automatic detection detected up to 7.1. For the other devices as well.
The calibration is also fix - using the supplied micro velvet Aufstellpappe. Takes less than 5 minutes.
What I (still) have not tried is the iOS app and use the Bluetooth function. But I have no use.
Benefits:
+ Easy installation, good guide
+ Great design & very flat, fits in my case with a Samsung 40 LED TV that only a very very narrow margin has (I have therefore sought a very flat Soundbar)
+ Wireless Subwoofer with massive bass
+ Great surround sound for such a small device, to very fine resolution in bright tones
+ Relatively many options for more individuality
+ 4K passthrough - so safe for the future
Neutral:
0 The on-screen menu will not win any design awards, but does the job
0 remote control relatively large and not very attractive - but functional
0 No HDMI cable included, but that's probably standard
Negatives:
- If I understand correctly, the subwoofer saves no power when I him not wireless, but wired connect (at with it is directly within reach and a wireless connection need not actually). I think that's unnecessary. Maybe I'm wrong here, too - then I change it gladly. First I therefore admit this no penalty, because I am still not sure 100% me. Especially since it would be only a very small saving ...
Conclusion: For 900 euros, although felt relatively expensive but a really very good device - but you have to also be aware ". Use therefore not necessary for pure shopping queen and Celebrity Dinner evenings - or rather challenged and" pearls before swine ". In real convince BluRays and even with decent 5.1 content (with me via Apple TV and eg Sky) but it exerts its effect and can. We keep it!
