I was certainly not the only had some fears that it would the story of Tohr, who has his great love already found and lost again, sat in the sand. But Ward leaves the characters time to develop, first set up a tender friendship, born of the slowly more. The feelings and look real and No'One (which it is in the course of history the beautiful name Autumn) Tohr fit really well together. Autumn is a strong character, she is very sympathetic to me, more than many other Shellan from previous books. Both her and Tohr in healing and slow mutual attraction watch was wonderful.
Of course, the other characters do not come off badly, in fact, is in this band actually every once shortly before. Greater focus lays on Ward John and Xhex and Xcor and his Band of Bastards. Both storylines were treated a little too verbose for my tastes, especially the conflict between John and Xhex looked a little to far-fetched, but all the focus is in particular again a lot more on the main pair.
Also Blay and Qhuinn get some scenes, my personal highlights because there Ward pulls back her whole repertoire and plays with the emotions of the reader as otherwise nowhere.
In addition, the author has incorporated in this volume a few surprises in the plot, with whom I had not really expected, especially the action on the whole, but is foreseen (in the end they always get).
In summary, I can only say that in this series, the air is also after the 10th band is far out, on the contrary, the author runs on top form, delivering my opinion one of the best books of the series. Her characters are deep and believable, make by astonishing developments and their stories touch the reader easily. Despite sometimes briefly emerging tedium when a subplot is treated a bit too much detail, I love this book and would 6 Star award, if I could.
