In general principle, it is more effective than tablets or liquid chlorine for désinfecfion of bathing water (electrolysis of salt continuously) and the fight against algae (copper ion release on the 54602). It remains even when a chlorine derivative (sodium hypochlorite) but is tolerated better because present in small quantities and very volatile (should run several hours a day because very quickly transforms back to a salt with UV). There is a boost that provides an alternative method to chlorination shock with products and that works very well. Very, very effective for me anyway, impossible, or almost to run its water. You just regularly controlling salinity and the level of free chlorine, then make a descaling of the cell time to time (the fact that it is transparent to the 54602 lets you know when to do it, which is handy).
A couple with a sand filter for larger volumes, but in all cases the pump flow must be adapted to the sterilizer.
As for lifetime, it will soon be two years since I have, but these devices have a limited life due to power supply cutting precisely that handles destroy the cell in a few seasons. That said may have to order the parts Intex therefore serviceable without much problem in principle.
Another point, my cell was leaking a bit, I contacted the Intex service who replaced me in the week, so effective service.
