The lens hood (also Gegenlichtblende) is an original Canon product and not a second-rate imitation. I use the visor on my EOS M 18-55mm lens. The processing and fit are properly and given the function. Compared to other lens hood reveals that this is not taken from the inside with black velvet. Instead, we used black plastic. This is for the price range and the lenses on which one uses this Gegentlichblende but totally fine. Using the Lens Hood can be particularly backlit better contrast and colors achieve. In addition, unnecessary reflections are avoided. The price / performance ratio is of course not so pleasing, but to me it was the additional protection of the lens and the quality gain value.
