Supersilent Multimedia + Gaming PC Quad Core AMD A8-6600K 4x 4200 MHz, Windows 7 Pro 64, 8GB RAM, 1TB HDD, AMD Radeon HD8570D + Crysis 2 Full Version Free (Personal Computers)

Customer Review

I have the PC recently by Mega Port bought for about 400 Euro in the following configuration:
AMD A8-6600K (4 cores, more information on that later) with onboard graphics, 1TB SATA HDD, Windows 7 Professional 64 bit license (more on that later) and built-in DVD burner, as well as 8GB of RAM and a 420 watt power supply.

Curious as I was, I have the same part screwed on and looked at the intrinsic values. Inside, everything is installed clean, there are no loose cables or parts flying through the area.

The case:
- Lightweight construction does not make the most stable impression Gehäuselüfter forward integrated with green LED lighting (with me), fans in normal operation only slightly audible, the part is right next to me on the desk
- Due to the lightweight construction the noise insulation is not as good, but otherwise okay in the price range.
- Housing has on the demand side 2 USB ports where USB plug upside but must be plugged, which is somewhat unusual first
- Housing further has a headphone input and a microphone input, with both connected to Board

The Board:
- Motherboard from Gigabyte, because you can not complain, I had in my old computers, so you can not go wrong

The power supply:
- 420 watts, no-name power supply, noise pretty quiet (had already Lauteres in the price range)

CPU, Graphics & RAM
- Quad-core CPU from AMD is clocked at 3900 MHz in normal operation, at high power requirement, the CPU is running in Turbo mode, up to 4200 MHz Peak, however, since only a standard cooler is installed, like lubricates the PC from the converting of films, as CPU is too hot. That's happened to me 3 times, until I read a Burn In Test and AMD own overclocking tool, the temperature reserve. Then I turned off the Turbo mode in the BIOS again. Upon delivery of the PC the Turbo mode, incidentally, was also disabled. The stock cooler is enough for frequent use of the Turbo mode is definitely not out. After deactivation he now runs although only to about 4000 Mhz. But when it comes to performance degradation, we are moving with it in the single-digit range. What is more important: The box runs since stable even with demanding computing tasks.
- Graphics card is onboard (AMD Radeon HD 8570) and shares the common memory with the main memory. Through the 64-bit Windows system is also able to manage more than just 4GB of RAM. The size of the video card memory is automatically adjusted from (768 MB RAM), also on 1 and 2 GB, think to have seen that go up to 4GB, but I'm not sure now. It would also make no sense to allocate 4 GB of graphics card. With me it runs on 1GB, which is usually sufficient. The power supply is also strong enough that you could install a separate PCI-Express graphics card. The onboard graphics card is average. High-performance games you can not play, to watch for everyday life and videos with it, but it was good enough.
- 8 GB RAM from Crucial (me is the manufacturer unknown, 1333er was built). He is fast enough anyway and 8GB of RAM ranging from thick for all work in everyday life. Installed are 8 GB in a memory module. There is at least one other bank free. The total number of banks, I have unfortunately no longer in the head.

Drives:
- The 1 TB HDD from Toshiba (Toshiba DT01ACA100, 7200 rpm), it involves a SATA disk. The Board also has no connections for IDE.
- The DVD burner is from Samsung.

Included Software:
It is a Starter Edition installed by Office with slightly slimmed, but functional versions of Excel and Word. But there is no media to produce the software again in case of a new installation.
The operating system is pre-installed. Real-time certificate is, however, is an OEM version of Dell. Disks also still missing. The system could also be activated without any problems with the license. And the image of the installation you can download until the autumn of Microsoft. From that date may be sold to a very limited namely Windows 7 only. Updates There lt. Microsoft, but until about 2020 yet. So worth the move to Windows 7 in any case, if you still running an older operating system.
Attention: OEM versions Microsoft does not provide support. If you have problems you must contact you directly mega port. Otherwise, no additional software was supplied.

My rating:
Has been spared on the housing, the standard CPU fan, which, when it is fully pressurized, makes loud noises accordingly. Otherwise, the PC is relatively quiet (during normal operation). Then was also saved when power supply, since a no-name manufacturer has been installed. As the power supply acts in the long term, I can not say that only time will tell.
Technically it's not a performance gaming PC. Who before has to play graphics-intensive games, is well advised to additionally invenstiert money in a decent graphics card. Otherwise, the quad-core CPU is enough for most tasks.
Incidentally, the configuration runs apart from the weak fan for the switched-mode turbo otherwise very stable. Even at full load my AMD tool now shows even a temperature reserve of about 17 degrees, which even in the summer should be running the box stable when it is warmer outside (room temperature about 20 degrees). Can upgrade to the PC also, what more could you want. If you were to put together a system with these components, you would be about 500 euros with operating system. These things I have determined in advance of a cost accounting of the items.
Who wants to really gamble Hardcore, then fetches but rather but a more powerful machine. For Office, Video & Co also a dual core would be enough.
In my opinion, is the PC lower middle class in the delivered configuration, however, sufficient for the average user.

Cleaned at least once a year, the fans and the interior: Tips for long life of the computer. I always take to a compressor and blow the whole thing carefully (not too much pressure) with compressed air. The fans have to be decommissioned. For this, I usually always use a thin screwdriver, with which I then stop the fan, so that the camp not break. I do this for years so, and it works flawlessly.

Update - March 2015: In the meantime I have my PC indulged a few small modding.

MSI GRA PCX R7 260X 2GD5 OCV1 graphics card (Radeon / AMD with GDDR5 memory 2 120 euros (lower middle class, is enough for me but)
Thermaltake 530-watt power supply - about 45, - Euro
Artic Freezer 13 CPU cooler - about 25, - Euro (in the attachment bit fiddly, but is very good cooling capacity)
G.Skill Ripjaws-X memory 8GB (1333MHz, 240-pin, CL9) DIMM DDR3 RAM - about 70, - Euro

The Bude runs like clockwork, and Turbo overclocking thanks to the new heat sink is no longer an issue. Much quieter, the cooler is. But you can tell when installing the graphics card and power supply, that the housing is not soooooo very stable, it is necessary to exercise some caution, but it runs. Meanwhile, I have overclocked the CPU in the BIOS to 500 Mhz. Runs safe and stable and is also sufficient. Runs even with the old power supply, which was still stable when buying it. The graphics card and RAM (ie the used components) function with the built-in power supply, but I have it rebuilt for safety.

Questions? Comments? Criticism? Also for upgrade or modding. Preferably by comment. And do not forget: Here, I give only my opinion. As varied as the people are, so varied are the opinions).

New: Installation Procedure a discrete graphics card can be found in the comments.
