Pearl Jam disappointed me recently with Binaural, of which I would have expected more groove and expressiveness. I had little hope. But I have to say that with my Riot Act fears were largely dispelled. The entry already raised expectations: Already Save You shows that even fast pieces can still be played motivated. With Love Boat Captain then comes the first piece of quiet - so says one. But it rewinds slowly revved up and makes this fun. The first highlight! Satisfied, I nod smiling in Groove. Such a dope I last enjoyed on No Code, now has it been five years. The match, which will nod and reconciliation with my long-time favorite band seems actually to come about. Then, the next absolutely amazing: I am mine, the first single from the album, fascinated by catchy melody and yet is not a typical single. For it is then not cuddly enough, but kept up well character. Especially through the solo at the end (when it was last solo with this band?), That ends the piece short and concise, it did to me. Change continues ruled the album. The quiet, melancholy Thumbing My Way and almost experimental You Are (getting used to, but managed!) Decide the first -and ultimately bessere- half. This is also the largest point of criticism: After the excellent first half followed by nothing more breathtaking. For the most part quite audible pieces, but lack the finishing touches. In addition, unsuccessful experiments with chant (Bushleaguer) and an imitation of Nusrath Fateh Ali Khan (mystical chants at Arc). That's why the album Scars but then past the maximum rating. However: the positive impressions far outweigh. What da partially flashes at songwriting qualities, I had believed already lost. In the end the album reconciled all that as I accompany Pearl Jam a long time and were recently disappointed. It is simply varied, successful oeuvre. Even new fans will feel quickly at home. It is a recurring process: Once again the band has changed, the album has a different effect than its predecessors. It's a new sound, the band has evolved, new sounds. For the first time in a long time I like it; Pearl Jam have its size again.
