I was looking for a photo backpack
1. has a low weight
2. suitable for hand luggage on the plane and is
3. can accommodate a Canon 500mm lens + 1D Mark III, another Cam + 2 additional lenses and small items.
To test this, I had the Tamrac Expedition 5589, the Lowepro Vertex 300 AW Lowepro Pro Runner 450 and the AW.
Decided I have also brought the best comfort for the latter, since it best met the above criteria 3 and me as "not huge" (almost 1.70 m tall).
The 500mm Obi with attached 1D Mark III fit "quite smoothly" pure, ie without any air at the ends. But to sit without attention.
The Tamrac was for this combination is almost "too long" and better, an Obi etc. firmly seated in the backpack as it has constantly slips back and forth or too much play. Then you quickly chafing on the housing o. Obi.
The Tamrac has a very poor cushioning and wear über'm summer T'shirt would not have gone ... both the shoulder straps and the waist belt suppressed significantly. What also bothered me: in this pack the deposits are quite difficult to change because of the Velcro keeps very strong. The two Lowepro backpacks that goes lighter without affecting the stability inside.
The comfort of the 450 AW I loved ... even fully loaded as described above! And here comes quite a bit of weight together!
With this backpack the RV were also much easier / more supple than the Vertex 300 AW. Here fit purely the large 500mm Obi with Geli NOT .... the level is still too low at !!! Therefore, this 300 AW backpack no longer came on the short list.
Etc. For day trips or short-haul air travel Can I use the 450 AW backpack highly recommend (just as well as cabin luggage).
Processing / stability / padding / tripod shooting / adjustability of the straps / possibilities of interior layout / value for money is top and also an obligatory rain protection is.
Only at the bottom I had me a similar gumming desired and protection against dirt or moisture from below.
I tinker me now itself .... ;-)
For sooooo tall people may possibly be a little too small this backpack, simply ago by its compactness and of the Gurtanbringung. I appreciate that these readers are better off here with a slightly longer backpack.
