Since I no longer one before, shelling out big bucks for faked "quality" vow, there should be a simpler, easier and cheaper laser printer with paper tray are time - since I had the HL-2130 for retail price of 64.95 just right.
Now have about 20 pages "Test Prints" behind me and can not complain neither about the typeface, still above the normal for a laser printer noise! Lexmark was much louder! The HL-2130 operating noise during printing is not to be intrusive. Who reacts sensitively to this fan or paper transport noise, had better choose an ink printer.
Have probably also a model from recent production batch; it was FW V1.12 installed (test: 3x Go button within 2s) and the enclosed installation CD in version "C", which is not even available on the Brother Support page for DL (there: "B2" ). However since 27.06.2013 there is a firmware update to V1.13 ("improving the performance of the unit"), which read easily installed.
Only the manual paper feed might be a better design, because about 50% of the test prints were printed wrong. After a few more attempts - and now apparently optimally adjusted guide rails - it should look pretty good. From storage compartment below fed paper was anyway out and printed always work properly.
The typeface is really sharp and properly for this price range. The resolution of 2400x600 can be the driver in the form not choose; here you have to know that this then (lt. manual) is carried out by setting "HQ1200".
Otherwise, the driver (V1.08) offers all the usual features such as toner save mode, as well as a few other functions such as avoidance of corrugated paper, optimizing toner fixing and reduce shadowing.
My Conclusion:
-> Device with good price / performance ratio!
Therefore, for this price range I assign 4.9 stars for handling, mechanical design and functionality!
I hope he keeps this first impression, the next few years!
The Brother Support page read so far no questions unanswered - coverage and timeliness in the DL area are exemplary. Bearing in mind that this model now Publication date yet carried out a firmware maintenance even after more than 2 years, that's gratifying. However, one can only hope that this FW not hidden disadvantages brings such as deliberately inferior expression when using "compatible" toner cartridges, as practiced by some manufacturers unfortunately often.
Only the online registration has not yet worked out - what to provide last 9 digits of the SN were dismissed as "unknown" ... let's see how is the support contact ... ;-)

From the support was no response - but the registry does now; to SN will now automatically "HL-2130" recognized.
