The smallest Laserjet has in my opinion the perfect price-performance ratio - the price of an inkjet printer, there is a 'real' laser printers. A normal-sized toner is supplied (and not as a narrow-gauge cartridge that already all is after a couple of print), it lacks the USB cable - often as with HP as usual. So also order a "Type A to Type B" connector equal! The running costs you can not complain too: The toner cartridges ("Q2612A") keep the 2000 pages, to my knowledge, there is unfortunately no cheaper replicas. But so does a printout (paper and toner) is far less than in the Copy Shop (or the inkjets). Print quality: The Laserjet 1010 is "only" a 600-dpi printer. For text best suited for photos of course you can see the print screen. However, the printed image is without any stripes, even on gray areas. Nothing compared to the previous 600-dpi laser. Unfortunately, the power button hiding at the back - when the Laserjet so 'hidden' in bookcase (due to its small size, no problem), you have a problem. But he is, when he's not printed, absolutely silent. Nevertheless, including a power strip with power switch next to the USB cable a good additional investment ;-) Another point that is very important to me personally: The 1010 is contrary to the official data sheet also Mac compatible. On the supplied CD are Mac drivers from the HP website of course. Of course, the printing features of Mac OS X are supported, such as printing only the odd or even pages, then to be able to print the backs sorted accordingly. The rendezvous function is supported: The printer can be used without restriction by all other computers in the network (as long as the Mac, to which the printer is turned on). This saves an external Ethernet print server that would anyway more expensive than the entire printer. Conclusion: Whether Windows or Mac - the "small" Laserjet 1010 may already be a bad buy due to its price. But even so there is really no major defects that could cause I could have annoyed to have resorted to a more expensive model is not (as the Laserjet 1012 or 1015).
