DSA Marissa Meyer is a great Grimms fairy tale fan, her reader is definitely good. "Cinder" is as the name suggests a fairy tale adaptation of Cinderella, or also called Cinderella. But "Cinder" is by no means a cheap copy of the edition of the Brothers Grimm, no, Marissa Meyer developed something completely new, unexpected, wonderful. I find it incredibly difficult "Cinder" in a certain genre einzuorden. On the one hand Marissa Meyer processed the fairy tale elements in the mix with some fantasy elements, on the other hand, there is the great sci-fi share and somehow the story reminds me partially of a dystopia. Alone on this versatility it can be seen as well thought out and perfectly is this series opener.
The protagonist Cinder lives in New Beijing and loves her job as a mechanic over everything. Although she has been working for the zero tariff basically because all their proceeds go to her stepmother and Cinder them nothing gets to see. Nevertheless Cinder bases her work on fully and is probably the best mechanic in New Pekin. They probably see the market stall as a kind of retreat point before her stepmother. Because Cinder is their ward, it belongs body and soul to her because Cinder is a cyborg and life of a cyborg is virtually worthless. And Cinder has a big heart, is an amiable man who advocates for his fellow man and she definitely deserves better than to be treated like dirt by her stepmother, she works for self-sacrificing and hard.
And since Prince Kai comes into play. This is the Tronfolger of New Beijing and is idolized because of his endearing manner and his exceedingly great appeal, especially from the ladies. Suddenly this is due to a mechanical problem his android, before Cinders market stall. This first meeting of the two protagonists is quite embarrassing for Cinder, very amusing for Prince Kai and the reader, and even here it is clear the two DSAs definitely belong together. As a reader, just Prince Kai has repeatedly caused tachycardia at me and so the meeting of Cinder and Kai have me constantly giggling like a teenager girl or sigh lsasen.
My favorite character is probably the side cute Androidenfreundin Iko from Cinder. This has repeatedly loosened up the gloomy mood, support Cinder at absolutely everything and this dissuaded even in the worst moments of their doubts. Iko is probably Cinders best and only reliable friend.
Marissa Meyer know exactly how it has to captivate its readers and to stress is not saved in "Cinder". Especially the "Blue Plague", which provides in New Beijing for fear, sort also the reader for sweats, panic attacks and open to mouths. All in all, a perfectly thoughtful Cinder Page-Turner, with perfect action, perfect characters and perfectly dosed tension!
