I bought this set at Varia and I am completely satisfied with the performance in just 7 watts of power consumption. In addition, I have the 16GB mSATA SSD contained in my bundle against a fast 64GB SSD replaced. I installed initially on Oracle VirtualBox a VM Ware ESXi on an 8GB USB flash drive (plus there is a very good instructions on the Internet) then you can before using the vSphere Client on the PC to install the firewall in a VM make with graphical user interface. One need but even here a serial port on the PC to complete the configuration on the APU and subsequently install drivers for the Realtek Netzwerchips. I am aware that many people but in a VM firewall systems against the risk I take in buying. As I have Sophos UTM firewall for home use in the application (for home users to 50 IPs in the network for free) because you get a really professional software here the way you want it left. I did not expect that the data throughput despite IPS (approximately 7,000 active pattern), firewall, traffic is virus / malware scan, Application Control, Country Blocking, etc. are not limited in a 30 Mbit line (I think up to 250 MBit there no problems). But you should assign this in the VM both CPU cores and at least 2.5 GB RAM (with me sinds 3 GB are used to a little more than 60%). For Application Control Sophos I can still say that this software can detect access WAN and manage them in categories (traffic shaping, blocking, ...). However, this function also needs a lot of CPU power and causes more problems than good would me, especially if one cares to avoid having to constantly make improvements if you want to use new programs / games on your home network. After disabling Application Control, the CPU usage level remains at about 10% so you do in this system still ample reserves for other VMs.
The nice thing about the VM Ware solution is, of course, I also can install other operating systems on the APU.
Anyone who brings a little technical know-how and has about 2-3 hours for installation and setup left, which I can access only recommend. Takes some getting everything set up running this setup in continuous operation without problems, with me months without rebooting.
Still to Sophos: One gets also automatically updates the system and the pattern of anti-virus, another really great feature is the automatic backup of your system configuration, you can have them sent via e-mail (you do not have your own mail server can Certificates and can remove passwords before shipping). All backups are einzuspielen using the Web admin interface with a click if you have to verkonfiguriert times :-) I had already PfSense, but is worlds away from the possibilities of Sophos Unified Threat Management Systems.
