CPU and RAM are enough for my purposes (mainly Office), the HDD seems to be a bit lame. Or is it on Linux, Windows, I can not test.
As OS I have Ubuntu 4.14 LTS. The devices are all realized with the wireless I initially had a little trouble finding a driver was not immediately found. Has then but even solved ....
Processing / housing
-----------------
The Aluminum-look of the case is visually quite appealing, the housing looks dibasic. However, at the front of the housing includes a relatively sharp edge that is not rounded. This little forearms on one digs while writing.
The keyboard is quite flat (
A small but not insignificant shortcoming is the lack of control LEDs on the front panel. There are only two available for PowerOn and battery. The simple but essential LED for HDD activity is unfortunately missing completely. Clearly saving at the wrong end.
Keyboard / Mouse:
-----------------
The touchpad works well and can be switched off, however, the "mouse buttons" also touch sensitive, which the two-handed operation (a hand clicks, one for the motion) makes cumbersome. This concept I've already in my much more expensive and better processed ASUS laptop also experienced. Seems to be a new trend.
What is new and also questionable is the assignment of the F keys. What the construct Euere have thought this default, the second assignment (!) Run by pressing? Normally, you press it to, for example, turn off the WLAN, the FN key and the F key. Need to obtain the correct F-key command press the FN key in combination one here. Rarely something brain-cracked experienced. The only exception here F5, which is occupied by "updating" and F5 in most programs will do the same.
Display
-----------------
The display is "MMN dissolved too high with FullHD 1080p at 15. At least with Ubuntu I have problems because the font is too small and thus I get problems reading, although I still have good eyes.
I / O Ports
-----------------
All connections are located at the side, there's no backward. A hole for Kensington lock is present.
Connections on the left:
Power connector. Plug is symmetrical, rectangular, similar to a USB connector.
2x USB 3.0
1x HDMI
1x Gigabit LAN - be> socket must be "unfolded", due to the flat case
1x VGA
Connections right:
1x USB (probably) 2.0
1x SD Multi Card Reader
1x Audio combo jack: Micro and headphones combined -> works with smartphone headsets, with me from the Samsung Galaxy S4
Conclusion:
-----------------
Bottom line, for the relatively low price but you get a useful tool, of course, not a high-end. Unfortunately, some small weaknesses in workmanship and design are.
